Software Description

Finale NotePad is a version of the famous music notation software Finale. NotePad allows you to make simple scores, with a number of basic features borrowed from its sibling Finale. It's also critical to compatibility, since users who don't own Finale can open any file made with a Finale-family program in NotePad.

Email audio Portion?

I want to email the audio portion of a song I have on finale notepad. How do i do that. Do I save it as an .mus or .mid file? I have vista and it seems like codecs are the problem. Help.

If you save as .MUS, then only people with Finale-family products can open it, but they will be able to edit it.
If you save as .MID, anyone can open it, but you lose a lot of (non-musical) data (lyrics/etc.), so if someone wanted to edit it, they might be annoyed.

If you buy a higher-class Finale-family program (for example, Printmusic), you could save as WAV or MP3.

im looking for a program that can:
1 have 1st 2nd endings
2 change time signature in the middle of a song
3 change key signature in the middle of a song
4 do grace notes

to the best of my knowledge, notepad can do none of these. are there any freeware programs that can? if not, what finale products can?

Finale Print Music can do all of the things you are looking for. It is also likely that their cheaper version, Song Writer would allow those things as well.

I have found that Sibelius can translate music from Staff Notation to Tonic Solfa. I was looking for one and for many years didn't know that my Sibelius 2 can do it. It wasn't until I downloaded Sibelius 5 Trial Version that I discovered that it could do Tonic Solfa. I have just discovered this last week and am thrilled about it.

Hi,

I'm not sure if you were meaning that you want to put 1st and 2nd endings using Finale NotePad. This program is freeware, so it doesn't handle them.

There is a Finale NotePad Primer by Bill Purse (which I have used to help me), and my website has some of the information about NotePad.

Abouth the small notes on the toolbar: I think that you MIGHT be talking about the Tuplet (triplet) tool or grace notes. You wouldn't necessarily be using those buttons.
