Software Description

From the Guitar FX BOX web site:

Just plug your electric guitar to the sound card input, start Guitar FX BOX and enjoy - your guitar will scream and sing! This high quality sound processing program is acting just like a good collection of guitar effects pedals. You can use several of them at the same time, even all of them if you need so.

Guitar FX BOX does REALLY real-time DSP. Signal is sampled from sound card input, processed and then sent to the output with VERY LOW LATENCY - virtually undetectable. This is achieved using DirectSound or WDM streaming for fast access to the hardware (sound card) and fast DSP algorithms optimized for realtime processing.

Besides that, Guitar FX BOX features intuitive user interface, supports presets and hot keys for quick presets changing, MIDI/Game controllers pedals for wah-wah effect, configurable tuner, file input/output and more...

Effects included:

  • Overdrive/Distortion
  • Echo
  • Reverb
  • Chorus
  • Wah-wah (AutoWah and EnvelopeWah)
  • Pitch shifter
  • Tremolo
  • I/O Bass/Mid/Treble EQ controls
  • Compressor
  • Phaser
  • Guitar tuner

New in v3.0

  • Tube amp simulator,
  • Impulse response (convolution) based speaker cabinets,
  • Improved distortion/overdrive,
  • More wah types,
  • Arbitrary graphic equalizers,
  • Volume swell effect,
  • Redesigned reverb, much richer now,
  • 64-bit processing,
  • Improved EQ quality,
  • Minor bug fixes

Hi.

I purchased Guitar FX 2.5 long ago - I believe back in 2002 or so. I absolutely LOVED it and I used it a LOT over the years. I really appreciated it when you sent me the upgrade to version 2.6, which included a reg.key file to unlock the paid version.

But somewhere along the line I changed email addresses and lost touch with you (and you with me) and so I don't know if my original license included lifetime upgrades or not. The reason I ask is that I recently downloaded version 2.8 from a shareware site and ended up "losing" my registered version. I don't have the original install files, and the backups I have won't work when I try to reinstall them (probably due to some registry key conflicts between the two versions).

I know I'm sounding cheap here, but is there any way I can get my OLD version running again, or am I going to have to spring for the latest version (which looks pretty good from what I've seen)?

Or (and I'm not holding my breath), am I still eligible for the upgrade under the original purchase of version 2.5?

If not, I'll probably end up buying it anyway, as I'm totally HOOKED on it and had saved lots of presets. Instead of a stompbox board, I would just take my laptop along with my axe and a couple of patch cords, and I was totally good to go!

Money is tight right now - but then that's not news to anybody, probably even for you.

Thanks for one really SWEET program that's a real VALUE in a market full of software that often asks more than you do for software that does a lot LESS than yours does!

Distortion & Effects

Why does the distortion not work? Can you help me please.

Pathetisad ........

Most of the noteworthy amp sims sell for several hundred dollars. The ones that purchased this paid less than $30, then complain about it. Big red flags should of jumped right out in front of you as soon as you read the price. You get what you pay for, crap is crap. So slapyourself in the face, you deserved it for being such a gullible twat, then walk away hopefully having learned from this.

90% of you are functioning retards in the first place, so I doubt anything sunk in. Take up Guitar Hero instead

Oh you must be one of those

Oh you must be one of those "Cool" guys at the local McDonalds....

lol

Great Software!

I'm very happy with this software. Plays without any noticeable delay.

OK at first there was some noticeable delay, then I selected the WDM streaming output in 'settings' and it worked fine.
I have abandoned the idea to get an amp plug.

Also In the beginning there was a lot of noise, then I remembered a trick of tying the guitar signal cable into a knot so noise signals cancel out.

Now its quieter although sometimes there is a low volume buzzing noise when my bare feet are toughing the floor. This noise disappears when I rest my feet on the sofa.

Overall I'm very happy ;-)

"Error opening audio input device!
Selected format is not supported."

i have tried and so far so cool..haak

dont pay

I dont recommend buying this software as i payed for it and there was a problem with the email he sent me and he wouldnt reply, so i payed for nothing. DONT PAY

Re: dont pay

Same goes with me he wouldnt reply shareit replied once but they just sent me reg.key file. Not the full program. Assholes

line in selection

I have a big problem. When i play its also effecting any other sounds going on. Ive set my mixer to line in, not stereo mix and it still effects and amplifies any other sounds within windows. If it was on stereo mix id understand but its purely line in. upsetting me, im trying to record in adobe audition and it records the metronome too, and when its on, and it has its own dedicated soundcard, everything gets recorded.

With out Brain Surgery

So far I tried download VSTs. They suck.
All I want is some simple special effects. If I download this unit, will I have to download anything else?
I hope not.
Thanks

FX box for linux?

Hi
I tried GFB on Wondows XP - it sounds good, however is there any chances for releasing it under Linux? New kernels+Preemtion patches+Jack Server gives absolutely better, and faster response than any Windows sound servers or drivers I evaluated. Thus I suggest that nowadays linux is better choice for realtime playing.

Need fuul program?cheap man!call mee

for everybody who want play guitar but dnt have enough money u can call me

I'm looking for a preset that sounds like "money for nothing" by the dire straits. Or how to make it myself :)

Money for Nothing

Mark uses a Wah Wah Pedal for Money for Nothing. You just have to open it like half way or so to find the exact same sound.

I need help

Hi, you look like to have knowledges about the software guitarfx box. I have a question for you, can you explain me how to install presets for the software.

how to record with the fx box

just go to the files tab and click on the output file: button name it with a .wav (riff.wav) and you can also play it back and play over the track by selecting play background track file click browse and select the file you just made

reply

Thanks you administrator

Re: Will DirectX 8 improve things?

Nope.. latency is not a thing of Windows but its about soundcard drivers and capabilities. Professional users should buy a professional soundcard. Lowest latency on RME Hammerfall soundcards. 5 ms latency from microphone through puredata to speaker (!) on pentium 4 systems: 1.5 ms latency for audio input, 2 ms for software and 1.5 ms latency for audio output. It'll cost a bit money, but you don't have to bitch with latency ever again.

: Latency is a big problem with a 'real-time' effects in Windows. Ive heard that Cakewalk and Sonic Foundary are working with Microsoft to sort this out and would have something to show for it with DirectX 8.
: Can someone explain to me what all this is about and will 'hear as you play' effects and plugins ever happen?
