Software Description

Impulse Tracker is a revolutionary new music tracker under development in South Australia by Jeffrey Lim (Pulse/PoP). It is quite similar to the popular Scream Tracker by Future Crew, and is therefore quite easy to learn. Features:

  • MOD, MTM, S3M and IT compatibility.
  • Supports the following sound devices:
    • Sound Blaster
    • Sound Blaster Pro
    • Sound Blaster 16
    • Sound Blaster AWE 32
    • Gravis UltraSound
    • Pro Audio Spectrum
    • Pro Audio Spectrum 16
    • Interwave
    • PC Speaker
    • DAC on LPT
  • Easy to-use, familiar Scream Tracker 3 style interface.
  • Direct control over 64 channels.
  • Maximum of 256 internal channels for greater sound quality, using NNAs (New Note Actions); Full panning (on SBPro, SB16 and GUS).
  • Stereo Surround (on SBPro and SB16).
  • Variable pattern lengths.
  • Full block functions available (across-channel also!)
  • Volume envelopes.
  • Ping Pong loops and sustain loops for samples.
  • Global volumes for channels and samples.
  • Templates.
  • Now with S3M saver, instrument I/O, and extra panning controls in the volume column!
  • As of version 1.04, support for 16 bit samples, and samples greater than 64k!
  • As of version 2.0, added panning and pitch envelopes.

Well, my advice is, try reading the help file. This is located where it says "help. To use the "help" file, simply move your mouse and double click on the "help" file itself. To exit the "help" file, click on "exit the help file" button.

I am an aspiring tracker. Everything I have learned I have learned on my own. But I am more interested in writing songs than trying to figure out a music program. I loved Scream Tracker, so I adore Impulse Tracker. But I've never understood it all. I'm just starting college to become a composer. I am wondering if there is a Text File that explains all the ins and outs of Impulse Tracker. If there is, I would like it. If not, is anyone interested in helping me work one up? I think it would help a lot of people. Thanks.

Hi,

The main reason why you cannot write the trax in stereo is because
the ITWAV.DRV does not support stereo only mono... if want to be able to
write them in stereo you will have to pay a small contribution fee to the author
of impulse tracker... trust me ITS WORTH IT>...

It is an amazing program... and you can create CD quality trax...

Visit the homepage and send Jeff an email for detials.. the stereo driver
is excellent and you will be able to record it in 44.1kz stereo..
then just burn burn burn......

It's in mono 'cause Jeffrey Lim wanted IT to be freeware only to people NOT trying to SELL their music, hense the mono disk writer.

Well that doesn't work,,
I got a simple sb16 maybe that's the problem,,

Read the MIDI.TXT file that comes with IT. If the content is not clear, you might have to do some reading-up on MIDI. Just search for "midi tutorial" in a web-search engine. hope this helped.

are there MMX drivers too for AWE64 or 32?

The whole reason for the MMX drivers are for resonance filters, which the two AWE cards support in hardware.

You could use one of my .IT files if you like. It's called Sunset. See what you think. I'm 15 too by the way.
