: I am christmas shopping for my husband and do
: not know exactly what he wants. I know he wants
: a midi keyboard to attach to his Macintosh, and
: that he plans to use it for composing music.
: I know he would like software which would translate
: what he plays into musical notation. Is that what this
: software does?
: Thank you,

LIME is a (very good) tool for notation and score writing.
It has good facilities for recording and notating the result.
However it is not a midi sequencer. If you are going in for
composing, you will need a sequencer as well I use Logic from emagic.
I would suggest you get a copy of Lime (after all you can
have a free trial and in any case it is not expensive)
and have a play.
