Software Description

LiveProfessor is designed to be a effect rack of VST plugins - specifically with live sound in mind. The concept is very simple: using an ASIO audio card you can route inputs and outputs through your VST plug-ins. The program supports snapshots, MIDI and both VST effects and VST instruments.

LiveProfessor is still at the beta stage so it’s not at all consider to be finished.

Features:

  • As many VST plug-ins as your computer can handle. Both VST effects and VST instruments are supported.
  • Easy routing: The matrix view makes it easy to see what is patched where.
  • Snapshot automation of each plug-in: Recalls all parameters of a plug-in.
  • MIDI input: To control instruments or to allow hands-on control of plug-ins.
  • Fast audio engine to ensure low latency. Using a standard ASIO-card you can have as many inputs and outputs you like.

New in v2.0.2 Beta

  • Fixed a bug that would not restore the audio patch when loading a project

New in v2.0.0 Beta

  • The audio engine has changed. There was a need for more flexible routing and better multi core support. Each plugin input can now mix any number of sources, from sound card inputs or other plugin outputs. Routing is done like before but you can now use the CTRL-key to add more then one input to a plugin. In the same way all plugin outputs can be split to multiple destinations.
  • Multi core processors are now supported so that each signal chain can run on its own core. So if you have 4 plug-ins and 4 cores each plug-in gets its own core. But if all the plugins are connected to each other, they run on the same core, as they have to wait for each other any way. You don’t have to think about this, it’s just to give you a hint that routing affects the efficiency of the program.
  • MIDI controllers - The next big change is the way MIDI controllers are handled. Users reported that they where limited by the early system of a global map with 8 layers. The system has now been split up. You now add a new Controller, you add as many knobs, buttons, sliders as you want to match your physical device, and then assign MIDI messages to these (instead of directly to the plugin-parameters)
  • Each plug-in instance can now have as many controller maps as you want, and you can switch between them like you do with snapshots. There has also been added a bunch of filter, scale and logic options so you can tweak the controllers just the way you like

Changes in v1.3.1:

  • Feature: LiveMode cue list. In this mode cues are displayed with larger fonts and can't be edited (They can be moved).
  • Feature: Cue list full screen button. This button maximizes a cue list to occupy the entire screen.

  • Fix: Routing menu don't show what connection is currently used.
  • Fix: Altiverb 6 did not output any sound.
  • Fix: When opening a project with missing MIDI devices and then saving the MIDI patch for these devices was lost.
  • Feature: Possible to manually replace missing MIDI devices.
  • Fix: Bug in auto scroll in cue list.
  • Fix: Dragging a snapshot action tool to an existing cue created a new snapshot.
  • Fix: Adding a new snapshot and clicking cancel created the snapshot anyway.
  • Fix: Potential crash when deleting snapshots.
