The bitcontrol Audio/Video Decoder is a part of the bitcontrol® Multimedia Suite. It is a multifunctional Multiformat Decoder for different multimedia formats, e.g. MPEG-2, H.263, MPEG-4, H.264/AVC, and others

The decoder provides a decoded image sequence in a defined chroma format for displaying on the screen. Besides, the output signal can be trans-encoded or be processed otherwise.

The bitcontrol Audio Video Decoder is used as a component in programs like bitcontrol® SimplePlayer, in bitcontrol® Video Streaming Server, in bitcontrol® Recorder and in further Windows Media® applications for decoding of compressed video and audio. Depending on a front end demultiplexer, the decoder supports DVB-C/S/T, media files, WebCams, video streaming and other input types. The decoder matches optimally for interacting with bitcontrol® Digital TV Link.

The bitcontrol® Audio/Video Decoder is not a separate program, but a loadable COM object under Windows. Usually the Multimedia application loads bitcontrol® Audio/Video Decoder automatically, the user do not need to take care of anything.

The bitcontrol Audio/Video Decoder operates as Software Decoder for different Codecs in accordance with the Specification, in addition it supports DirectX® Video Acceleration - DXVA. High definition TV HDTV with 1080i definition is playable with DXVA on Celeron 1GHz and with common atom processors.

The bitcontrol Audio/Video Decoder is delivered with a separate configuration menu, so that the supported codecs and their parameters can be set conveniently.

Furthermore, the bitcontrol Audio/Video Decoder has a plugin architecture and the loadable plugins provide additional functionalities, e.g. statistic information, a systray icon for configuration during run time and others. Detailed information you can find in Documentation.

The bitcontrol Audio/Video Decoder is very robust against errors, e.g. input stream "Drop outs" as bit errors and other signal errors. It means Decoder fits very good for DVB-T, DVB-S and Internet Streaming applications.

The bitcontrol Audio/Video Decoder stands out through its extraordinaire color brilliance. It is based on 4:2:2 color upsampling and on exact color spreading by decoding for MPEG-2.

The bitcontrol Audio/Video Decoder can decode MPEG video bitstream of most important profiles and all "levels" of different Chroma formats in real-time, e.g. the common MPEG-2 Main Profile@Main Level. The Decoder is compatible with common video standards.

The bitcontrol Audio/Video Decoder supports audio formats LPCM (partial) and MPEG-1 Layer 1/2. AAC is in prep.
