Software Description

Look at "AudioHQ/SoundFont/Options/SoundFont cache". There is only one choice here: "Static caching". Now there exists an alternative way.

Besides dynamic patch caching, which allows to load only those SoundFonts which are currently needed, with Megafont you can also quickly create a compound SoundFonts, create patch lists for sequencers and expand your SoundFont cache size (on SBLive! only)..

Most of widespread sequencers are supported, there is also a Winamp plugin allowing to listen MIDI tunes with the GM banks which are exceed a static cache size.

Is it compatible with SB Audigy 2 cards?

I hope it works with SB audigy 2 too. It says for SB Live! only. I wish they would make more Guides for Audigy not just Live!

not a very intuitive interface with all these icons shoved in your face.. took me very long just to get it going.
Would prefer text menus, and icons as an option.

there is a lot of free fonts out there... just "google" around for a while, you will find whatever. Search on "soundfont general midi download"

Does anyone have news of Megafont's development? LastNight stopped developing it last year and it seems a real shame to let such a great program fall by the wayside. I might even start a petition! He has made the source code available for anyone interested...
