I don't think that Mellosoftron even compares to Gigasampler or, for that matter Signum1100DX or Unity and probably not the forthcoming Reaktor from Native (if it sounds anything like Generator it should be wicked).
Mellosoftron is OK for playing back .wavs as instruments but it is really basic DirectX triggering. Just check out the editing, filtering effects etc of any of the above. They are in a different league!
You can get Gigasampler Lite for about £100 and it whips Mellosoftron. Trouble is it also tends to bugger up your PC and doesn't work with Cubase well at all. I reckon Unity is the biz.
