The problem maybe to do with hardware.
I have n-track studio which is basically a wave based multitrack but includes a midi sequencer using your soundcards midi synth.
The program contains a facility to convert midi to wave but the help files says this may not work if your soundcard can'y record its own midi output.
However the software vendor says to get round this by linking your line out with your line with a short cable to record the output.
This won't work unless your soundcard allows duplexing i.e. can record and playback at the same time.
