Software Description

Mikey (formerly named "WinKaraoke") is born on a simple idea: it's easy to play songs with a PC, to have a Karaoke you simply need something to synchronize the text with song.

The winning idea for Mikey is the simple file format, a normal text file (with MIK file extension) contains all the needed informations to show the words of a MID song file: each "text page" is associated to the time (in tenths of seconds) elapsed from the start of the song, and the program simply shows that "page" when it's time to do it. The same method is applied to "coloring" events, i.e. the words being sung. That's it!

And the MIK file format is freeware too, so you don't have to edit the MIDI files to add your karaoke (like other karaoke programs do): with the Mikey Editor you can easily create your own karaoke files!

Do you have another Karaoke program? No problem you can convert your existing *.KAR files to *.MIK by using the integrated converter function!.

Karaoke VS Midi

How can I transfer a .KAR file into a .MID file ?

editing .kar files

I am using Vanbosco and like it alot. I mute guitar and voice so I can play with my guitar and sing. It sounds great especially with some effets going through the SB LIVE card and into my PA speakers. I need to edit these files so that they come up with certain parts muted. Can I do this in Mickey and then transfrom them back to KAR to play on Van Bosco?
Thanks for helping.

Karaoke

I found your site on the net...and I'm not very versatile when it comes to computers...
My husband is interested in a karaoke machine...but when the computer is right there, why buy another machine, right? I need your help...is this program one where you play your own CD and it pops the words up on the screen???

Can I have this program in my mac os?

Hello,
my name is Rosa, i'm from Brasil.
I want to put this program in my computer, but I have a mac ou.is this possible? If is no possible, have some similar program to mac?

Write soon,

Rosa

crash!!!

Your stupid program tried to crash my computer when I ran Setup!! Fortunately, it didn't do any damage!

question -- cynical

Why, pray tell, are there three links to an Italy version, with nothing to distinguish between them? Isn't that rather... pointless?

Re: Karaoke player for pc's

If you're looking for software that will do the trick,
then I'm afraid you're out of luck, Ray. There are no such
programs available as yet (I've tried an extensive search
myself).
The only way your PC will read CD+G's is if your CD ROM
drive supports this feature. There are a view such drives
available, but they're a tad pricey.

If anybody does locate a CD+G reader for the PC, let me know
too. I could use one.

There is one PC program that plays Karaoke CD+G disc
Do a Web Search for "CDGPlay"

It is a DOS based program but you have to have
1) a CD capable of reading the subcodes where the words
are encoded
2) It is a DOS based program that balks at running under
Windows XX of any sort and is pretty hard to set up

I can't get them to answer my e-mails. I don't think they have a product. Couldn't prove it to me.

plextor is the best reader writer on the market that will read and write cd+g, micro studio has all the programing you need to make cd+g to copy or make from scratch, you can remove the words from the lead vocal and write the words on the cd so they will apear on the monitor
