Music Write software

I'm looking for some MIDI music writing software (under $50). Do any
of you have experience with Voyetra MusicWrite SongWriter? What else
should I be looking at in this price range?

I will compose by (1) playing in from my MIDI keyboard and (2) placing
notes on the staff.

I have SONAR which is great for mixing, effects and SoundFonts but I
find it limiting for writing the music itself (lack of tools - I'd
prefer a more Adobe-like interface).

Computer is IBM Thinkpad T40
OS is XP Pro
MIDI interface is M-Audio Uno
Keyboard is Yamaha PSR-225GM
Sound card is CL Audigy2 NX

thanks
Sathyan

I actually prefer Finale music notation software. The new version of Print
Music is fantastic and very reasonably priced. You can get a great deal at
Amazon. Here's a link:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00029XAUG/qid=1089300618/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl65/103-5740896-1543008?v=glance&s=software&n=507846

If the link doesn't work, make sure to select the entire range and copy it
to your browser. Otherwise, you coud try going to Amazon and doing a search
for PrintMusic 2004. They definitely have the best price I've found and
it's within your budget as well.

Good luck!

Re: Music Write software

Thanks for the postings. Based on your posting I bought the the PSR-225GM (used for a great price) and the M-Audio Uno. Am downloading the PrintMusic 2007 demo right now to see how it performs.
