Software Description

Power Tab Editor is a tablature authoring tool for Windows.

Use it to make guitar and bass tab (tablature).

It lets you create tabs with most of the symbols usually found in tablature including chord names, chord diagrams, rhythm slashes, bends, slides, hammer-ons/pull-offs, harmonics and even palm muting.

It's a great application for people who want to learn how to play guitar, and indeed seasoned pros who need to transcribe their own music and/or guitar lessons.

If you are looking to convert Power Tab to Guitar Pro there is no longer any need because Guitar Pro now imports Power Tab.

Although PowerTab is not officially designed to run on Windows Vista, there are a lot of people who use it with no problem, however some people have reported that it won't run on Vista for them.

When I opened up the sound properties of the app, I discovered it had defaulted to the wrong sound device, and I just toggled via drop-down list to the midi-supporting device. It works great now, and it saved the default so I don't have to keep going in and changing it. Hope this helps.

As you're looking at the guitar so the body is to your right, assuming it's strung for a right handed person, this is the order of the strings: E

G <--- G string is 4th from top, as you hold it

THIS PROG IS VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER, and SINCE I CANT WRITE OR READ NOTATION, IT HELPS ME WORK OUT SONGS THAT I WRITE, ITS PERFECT FOR ME, BUT IF I WERE A BETTER GUITARIST, IT WOULDNT BE SUFFICIENT.

Hey, here's the url of my brother's site.

He just started it last month, so he only has some
Vai, Satriani, Van Halen, and his own music for
his band Inward. He explains what tablature is,
has Power Tab and Winzip available for download,
and is setting up a mailing list for "Tab of the
Month" or something like that. Check it out, I
believe you'll be impressed. At anyrate, use
Power Tab, and spread it. Gradually make obsolete
these crappy tab sites which use text! Enjoy!

dotted notes?!

I can't seem to put down any dotted rhythm notes with this program. While I can sort of get around this by tying two notes together, it would be easier to just put the dotted note down. Is there a fix or an update to correct this problem?

AFTER you put in the note, hold shift and hit the right arrow key.

printing error

When I try to print out powertab files the program
crashes. My files open fine I just can't print them.
Is there a solution to this problem?

Adam, Windows 95/98 are cross-compatible. This program works on 98.

I really like this program. Is there a web page that describes more about it. Also, is this freeware or shareware? Also, it would be nice if you could enter tab numbers through the number pad instead of just through the number keys about the keys.
