Is there a demo of D-Verb? Is it worth it to buy? Does anyone out there own it and if so please e-mail me?

record input works, but sounds metalic
i'm recording into pro tools through the mic on my mac and it sounds totally metalic. the levels are cool and they sound fine when i check its input level, but when using pro tools the metalic sound arises...Any help would be nice....

The problem isn't Pro Tools but the way you get there. What kind of mic are you using e.g. The mic input of the Mac is crap, and the AD-converter even worse. But then again they are not designed for high-end recording. So what you get is basically what can be expected from this signalpath. Get a good mic, a proper pre-amp and a decent converter. Then figure out a way to get into PT digitally, because the Mac probably doesn't offer digital i/o's. You probably need a PCI-board or so with S/Pdif at least. An M-Box is probably your best bet. If all of this doesn't make any sense to you, talk to a pro-audio guy and be prepared to spend some money. Good luck! Happy tracking...

B.t.w. If it sounds like screaming thru a metal tube, you might have a feedback-problem... Still need a proper signalpath though...

With more people switching to Mac OSX, do you think Digidesign will someday update ProTools Free or ProTools LE to be compatible with Mac OSX ?

Well I'm not using it until they update for OS X. I've never used OS 9 and i don't intend to start now.

Digidesign will be releasing Protools 6.0 which will work on Mac OSX sometime in Q2 of 2003.

PT locks up on Mac 8.6 G4
hi all,
i have installed PT and my OS numerous times and played with settings, but PT still locks up within 1-10 minutes of running the program (not recording, just having PT running). freezes whole system and have to reboot.
i have 384 MB of memory with two hard drives, on for systems and apps, including PT, and the other just for PT audio storage (which i haven't used yet)
i've done the following:
- reinstalled OS
-configured settings as described in:
http://www.digidesign.com/support/faq/ptmac.html
(including setting preferred memory)
duplicated and revised extensions per the above web site, however after creating the new extensions it locked up my finder, so i had to reinstall OS. (and also reinstalling PT every time i reinstall OS just to be safe)
so i've ignored the extensions settings, which still allows PT to run, but it continues to lock up shortly after opening the application.
all folders and files are in correct place. i'm not getting and DAE errrors. and it's not freezing while trying to play or open files or anything complex, i can even set it to record, create tracks. haven't recorded yet, but it just freezes at seemingly random times
any thoughts? i know i have more than enough memory and space, and aside from internet explorer PT is the only software i'm using on this PC
i can open the software and am excited about using, but is definetely not stable on my system

Digidesign offers a D-verb RTAS plug-in for
ProTools Free users. Only catch is it's $50.
I'm going to buy it rather than messing with
shareware.

I don't think its possible. I have the same
problem & am currently trying to add reverb
externally using shareware.

FPTools freezes during launch
sucessfully downloaded free pro tools from digidesign. Launced the program, which opens in my Mac classic environment, and it freezes everytime at the OMS section. prompted to "set up" or "cancel," but can't click on anything. hard to even forcequit program?
Any suggestions?
Note: i tried to re-install OMS 2.3.8 but my computer tells me I already have everything.

click track on protools free?
I am a total newbie at this but...how can i get a drum sound for the click track? I am getting a keyboard sound and I see no place for me to select another midi sound...do I have to have a drum machine?...can't I get a sound from say...creative soundblaster or some other source??????
