Software Description

A Windows 95 program to control some aspects of the Roland RAP-10 audio card's playback. This can control the GM module's master volume, tuning, and transpose, as well as the muting of various MIDI channels. It also controls digital audio tracks' volume, tuning, transpose, chorus and reverb levels, and brightness. It controls reverb/delay and chorus units as well.

RAP-10!

The way I see it, the synthesizer of the RAP-10 works under Windows 31/95/98/ME when using the Roland, Microsoft or Cakewalk(?) MPU-401 driver. It's better to reserve an IRQ (9 or ?) in the BIOS of your PC (Set IRQ ? to LEGACY/ISA).

The audio part of the card is not compatible with DirectX (cf : Windows98 CD) and there doesn't seems to be an updated driver available; it should work under Windows 3.1/95 (Don't install the latest Internet Explorer).

I haven't found any MPU-401 driver for Windows NT/2000/XP.

Buy a "$50" 486, install the RAP-10 on it, run it under Windows3.1 or W95 and access its synth through MIDI, it should work OK.

Use the Microsoft MPU-401 driver that comes with Windows. It's in the Microsoft section of the drivers list (Add New Hardware, Choose from a list... I think, my Windows is in French!).

Unfortunatly the audio won't work but at least you can still use the pretty good GM synth of the card.

I think the RAP-10 will never work with Windows ME because Roland did not see the future the same way than Microsoft when they conceived this card.

I remember reading something about the RAP-10 in a readme file on the Win95 osr2 CD or on the Win98 CD, I don't remember exactly what it said but it was no good.
