Reason is now a full featured virtual studio rack with all the tools and instruments you need to turn your ideas into music. You get a wide variety of sounds from its sound bank and your creativity will not be distracted with its intuitive flow. Reason helps you along in the creative process and is the music software that never gets in your way.

Making music should be as easy as powering up a computer, loading up a powerful piece of music software, and getting down to business. And it is. Reason version 5 is a virtual studio rack with all the tools and instruments you need to turn your ideas into music. And it's more than just a set of excellent synths and effects. It's a complete music system. Step into the age of Reason.

All-in-one wonder
Synthesizers, samplers, drum machine, REX file loop player, professional mastering tools, mixer, vocoder, world class effects, pattern sequencer and more. As many of each as your computer can handle. Reason is an infinitely expandable all-in-one music production environment, complete with its own realtime sequencer.

Although easy to learn and a breeze to use, Reason is an extremely flexible music system - a system that can be just as complex and advanced as you make it. With sophisticated tools such as the MClass mastering suite, the mighty Combinator device, or the all-powerful Thor synth, Reason will not just impress, but inspire you.

Need more gear?
No problem. Choose a synth, a drum machine, a loop player or any device from the Create menu, and it will instantly appear in your rack, logically patched into the signal chain. And because Reason is designed to go easy on your computer, you can repeat the process until you're more than happy. If you ever wished you had eleven samplers and ten compressors, Reason is definitely for you. And if you have created more machines than you have mixer channels, just create another mixer. The studio of your dreams is just a few mouse clicks away.

Control your controls
Each unit in Reason's virtual rack is edited from its own on-screen front panel. All the sliders, knobs, buttons and functions are right in front of you, ready to be tweaked, turned and twisted in absolute real-time. And all your front panel actions - filter adjustments, pitch bending, gain riding or panning - can be recorded and automated in the Reason sequencer.

Radical routing
A single keypress will turn Reason's rack around, and there you are, in patch cord heaven. Most audio connections are made automatically. When a new device is created, it appears immediately below the currently selected device, and Reason patches it into the system in the most logical way. Repatch by dragging the patch cord plug to the desired connector, or just make a pop-up menu choice. Most devices have one or more parameters controlled by Gate and/or CV. And all instrument devices have several Gate or CV output options. Combine this with easy, transparent patching, and you have connection power approaching that of a fully modular synth.

This problem usually only happens with an illegal
cracked copy of the software or CD.

If you have a legitimate copy contact Propellerheads
and they'll help you fix the problem.

If you have an illegal copy you should remove it at
once as some of these contain trojans that will
give hackers access to your computer.

ReFills Dont Show...

when i download and unzip refills they dont show. im using version 1 of reason. how do RFL files translate to ZYP files that reason is looking for. i dont get it.

typical fruity response

why use fruityloops? How much do these other programs cost which you need? Why settle for something that's just cheap if you can afford to buy these? This is a typical fruity response. How much more do you get from the likes of a proper DAW?

YOU do the homework.

Re: more hype than innovation

: And YES, it DOES sound WAY better than Orion and Fruity. They are mere toys in comparison with its true potential.

: The only people who say Reason is more hype than innovation are people who have never even explored the capabilities of wiring your own hardware modules.

Mere toys? I very much doubt that. Way better? Maybe you are a preset user. I know at least Fruity Loops lets you set chains of FX. I do know something about wiring together your own modules. I mainly use Buzz and SynthEdit, which are modular. I prefer it, because it gives me greater controll (perhaps more controll than reason), but saying that you can get WAY better sound out of reason is a bit of an exaggeration. Sure slightly better, but getting a WAY better sound basically says to me that you are just trying to plug Reason, and that you haven't put in many hours on Fruity loops. Oh, and the innovation thing... "hey guys, lets design a music program that's exactly like existing hardware designs, and works exactly the same way..." um, no, good idea, but not innovative.

Re: You lost $275 down the toilet...

Don't waste your money... spend $300 on a used piece of gear or something. Try Buzz. It works so much better. What feature could you possibly want that isn't in Buzz? It has 32-bit rendering, VSTi support, 300+ gens and fx, MIDI support, and an active development community. And last time I checked it was about $275 cheaper than Reason.

Re: Reason & VST 5.0

You need to run the 'rewire cubase problems' fix in the propellerheads directory in which you installed reason. This limits the number of channels reason tries to take up to 16 instead of 64 and allows it to open correctly.

Yep... I got it!

: GET IT OUT THEIR OR GIVE SOME CLUES ONTO WHERE IT IS!! THE COMPLETE F*&KING THING!!!!!!!

Try Guitar Center... that's where I found it.

: DONT LET THESE CORP. PEOPLE GET FAT OFF OF US.

I doubt anyone's getting fat off of what I paid for it.

: HEY SOME OF US NEED THIS PROGRAM.

Sounds more like you need a job so you can afford software. Or maybe a gig... I've made more on a single night of playing music than this app cost me.

: HEY I THOUGHT THIS SIGHT WAS A SHARE WARE SIGHT.

Sight? Is that short for "websight" or something? And if you thought it was a shareware site, why would you be looking here for a non-shareware program like Reason? Are you some sort of moron?

: ONLY THING THAT IS BEING SHARED IS A WHOLE LOT OF PROBLEMS WHERE IS THE HELP AT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First you might want to check into that stuck caps-lock key and the exclamation point as well. If you still need to find "where the help at", it's the in the Reason menu bar... farthest choice to the right.

Reason: Best Workstation EVER!!!!!

It's this simple. I work with Reason 1.0.1 for over 6 months, and I can garantee (like Propellerhead guys said...) that it does more than hardware. For exemple: I've compared a Korg MS-2000 analog synth with Subtractor (the Reason synth) and the sound, the synth parameters, etc... everything was much more complete in Reason. Don't even compare Reason with Orion. It's simply outrageous... Orion is very weak in all ways. It's good to start, but is very "domestic".I've worked with it for 2 weaks, untill i bought Reason. The sound is basic and "empty". Reason is a professional software, so don't even dare to compare. =) PS: Propellehead Software: YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!

Yes, you are correct. Reason 1.0 is excellent!
Working between my KORG Triton and Reason, with Recycle to back up some of my loop creation, and Sound Forge for fine nuance editing, there is NOTHING you cannot do!

But if it run properly it will work and won't crash:). If you still have problem with ReBirth&Reason mail me and i'll send you my patch!

Reason & VST 5.0

ok, to start with, I think Reason kick's ass. It's easy to use and sound's great. But I can't make it work with my VST 5.0. They say that you first start up the VST, then Rewire, and then start up Reason. Nothing happens?!

gettin started????help!!!!

reason was recommended to me for producing my own work. is the programme all i will need or is there other things???????

Re: gettin started????help!!!!

|: reason was recommended to me for producing my |own work. is the programme all i will need or is |there other things???????

YUP! I know reason can record audio tracks, but the eastiest way i record is use ACID to record ( for the tempo/beat markers ) so thats your live instruments, and literally, everything else can be done in reason, just use the sampler to cue your recorded tracks.

Once you learn how to sequence a bassline, you learned how to use reason, everything works the same.

Use the pencil tool, ya know, it took me about a week of click ing around to get it, but i used fruityloops and that took me like 3 months.
Im looking for a site to post rns song files,
know any?

email me if you have specific questions about reason.

Tutorials???

Just got the demo for Reason. Its bloody amazing, but i'm struggling to get my head round it, so does anyone know where i can get a tutorial for it??
it'd be a big help, thanks :-D

Re: Reason = CPU hog

I run it OK on my brother's Celeron 300a. Some of the bigger songs won't run, but it is a two and a half year olf computer now. A Pentium 300 is slow now. That's about the absolute minimum requirement for most games these days. Get a new box.
