Obtaining a precise enought EKG to read diagnostically is often a difficult task. I have been experimenting with a home-made EKG that I've built adn have found that fed through a sound card, even a highly filtered voltage monitoring system gives high artifact. I presume that with a microphone hookup it would present even more interference. You could probably make a good pulse monitor this way, however.
