Why won't it record?

I must be doing something wrong....

I have a Soundblaster Live card... Slab came installed with SuSE Linux... When I play a keyboard or speak into a mic I can hear it through my PC's speaker... using the "audio recorder" tool in Linux I can record audio...

When I "record" using Slab I don't get anything recorded... well, if I do I can't hear it. Is this a common problem? Can't find anywhere to configure the input and I've tried going through Line In and Mic but no more success.
