Re: SSII Sucks...asynchronous overdubbing!

: The problem is recording and playing are totaly seperate process and Apple doesn't provide a way to sysncronize them or to see how far out of sync they are, so I calculate it as best as I can. 2.4.2 has improved sysnchronization. On my Mac (233 mHz G3 PowerBook) you can not here it but if you look close you can see they are slightly out of sync. You can always fix it with cut and paste.

It's a slight problem, especially when you're trying to record many small parts in different tracks.

If anyone is getting REALLY annoyed with this problem, get an audio recording program like Coaster. Get a 1x headphone plug -> 2x headphone ports adapter, plug it into the Sound In port. Get a short Miniplug -> miniplug cable, and plug one end to the Sound Out, and the other to the spare port on the adapter. (MAKE SURE THAT THE PLAYTHRU IS OFF, or you could overload your sound board.) Press Record on Coaster, use Quicktime or something to play the file you're dubbing over.

This will lose quality, and you have to be very precise with your Sound output levels. Still, it works alright if you can't be bothered editing.
