getting recording where shouldn't

Nice program, has good possibilities.
My problem is when I record to a new track, the previously recorded tracks are also recorded to the new track. How can I record just the sound I'm inputting without adding the audio (to that track) from the other tracks? Of course I still want to monitor the other tracks so I can play along with them.
