I doubt Windows could support anything like this, considering their limitations on one sound at a time. They have to use slow software mixers to do anything with multiple sounds. I agree, go Macintosh!
Also, most MIDIs are created on the Macintosh because of OMS, MIDI Manager, QuickTime's built-in MIDI support, and the fact that almost all MIDI hardware/software is Mac-only.
However, I do have to say that it's slightly easier to find MIDI software synthesizers for Windows, but that's because there are more people using Windows, and MIDI is a common music format in general.
