Software Description

fLOW is an audio computer program running on Apple Macintosh machines. It generates an ever-changing and never repeating soundscape in real time that fills the space with flooding sounds that resemble - metaphorically - the timbres of water, fire, earth, and air.

Feed your own sounds into the system and listen what the algorithms are composing. The system parameters can be accessed either by the mouse or with an attached MIDI controller. And finally, the result can be recorded as a sound file.

New in v3.4

Flow is great

flow, taken at face value is a rather quaint program in the idiosyncratic sense, but with a little tweaking it can be alot of fun and quite entertaining.

For example, the flow Earth, Water Wind and Fire Sound FX are all referenced from a sub-directory called Material. The program reads these AIF files and distorts them randomly to produce the ambient effects. Well, they all sounded kind of the same to me, so i experimented. By taking your own AIF files of either original or prerecorded sound effects (all at 22 khz and ranging in at about the same general length) you can create things that are much more variable and unique. It's a little more work, but it provides better results in my opinion.
