Yes, Groove Mechanic can probably do what you need. It will remove up to about 25 dB of hiss, and can greatly improve the audibility of the music or voices. You can download an evaluation version from www.coyotes.bc.ca, and if you need any assistance please contact me at info@coyotes.bc.ca. Thanks.
: I have some audio cassettes with focus group recordings on them: central to my MA research. However, they are largely inaudible (hiss, voices too quiet) because I took no care in selecting and positioning the Walkmans when conducting the focus groups.
