external midi modem?..

how about a solution for a midi maker without a computer?..i have web-tv and no digital interface with my phoneline. i have 5,000 bucks worth of sequencers, keyboards, etc...the question is- how do i send my midi to a plug-in without buying a computer? what external hardware am i searching for to make the hookup? i do understand plug-in's, digitizing, and i do understand how to retrieve files and place them on my page.

is there anyone out there intelligent enough to tell me simply- modem solution without computer?..

hardware- peavy sp
peavy sx, alesis sequencer

thank you for considering a solution!!...

Re: external midi modem?..

Hi Jeff,
I was doing a search on MIDITerm today, and found your question from 1999. I am sure you do not have webtv anymore at this point.
Until someone would make a box, the computer is needed for the hand-shaking between MIDI and the serial connection to the modem. This is done alot easier on the Atari ST, than on the PC. I did this as an crude experiment program back in 1988 on the Atari ST, and basically just told the program to send data from MIDI to serial, and vice-versa, but only when there was activity. The only thing I added after this was a text and midi mode to be able to talk before and after playing.

Someone could make a box to make what you would want. There is not much to it, and the program could easily fit onto an EPROM. The box would need buttons to dial a number, and to button for midi/text mode. I do not have the knowledge to do a project like this.
