USB and MOTU Performer 5.5

MOTU doesn't know if Performer 5.5 can be interfaced with USB. They have a USB version of Free Midi, but they don't know if it will run with Performer 5.5. No help from them. Does any one have experience running Performer 5.5 on system 8.6 (needed for USB)? If it does run on system 8.6, will it run with the USB version of Free Midi? Thanks for your attention

No Audio coming from VST Score 3.5

I am new to audio sequencing and have little midi experience. I have VST Score 3.5 but I am unable to get any audio from it. It will record audio and the monitor and master meters are showing sound but no sound is reaching my monitors. It is not a problem with my monitors or my mixer or my amp as I can play and record WAV's in the sound recorder. I am using a Soundblaster AWE 64 and I have disabled the onboard synth so thats not the problem.

Please help as I'm tearing my hair out!

atari to windows midi files

Have several midi files written on an atari 1040 ste. How do I convert these files so that they can be read on my windows 95 computer ? These songs were written years ago but mean alot to me. I don't want to lose them.

Re: atari to windows midi files

there shouldn't be any problems when copying
midi-files from atari to pc. you just need to
use a 720kb-dos-formatted disk.

did you have any problems?

I need the vs-880-s1 for the Roland Vs-880 hd-recorder

Advice/help please!

I'm putting all my old vinyl into wave files for transfer on to CD. I'm using the superb Noise Reduction software from Sonic Foundry.

But it's a plug-in. Does anybody know a cheap/free wave editor I can plug it into?

Not having any creative ability- sadly - all the bells and whistles on the big packages would be a waste of money!

Thanks for any help.

JOHN

not all cd roms are compatable
go to the adaptec site and see if your cd rom is listed in the compatable devices and make sure you are running the current version of creator
3.5c is the current version i think.

Which is easier/better#1

I'm buying a Dell PC to set up for audio recording of new stuff and restoration of old demos
To me, I want full-featured software.....but ease of learning/use is a BIG PLUS!!!!!
Which is easier/better:
#1) CD Mastering................Wavelab.. vs... CD Architect....vs...Red Roaster

#2) Restoration...............Steinberg "Clean"............vs.........Sonic Foundry "Denoise"

#3) Multitrack/MIDI......Cubase........vs........Samplitude.......Vegas Pro/Sound Forge

I'd use wavelab or soundforge.

: #2) Restoration...............Steinberg "Clean"............vs.........Sonic Foundry "Denoise"

denoise or another plug-in. cheaper than a complete program.

: #3) Multitrack/MIDI......Cubase........vs........Samplitude.......Vegas Pro/Sound Forge

cubase or logic.

Which is cheaper/better

Hi group, it's me again!!!!
I'm buying a Dell PC to set up for audio recording of new stuff and restoration of old demos
To me, I want a good quality interface card.......but I want the cleanest sound input for the
dollar!!! I don't need alot of inputs....just a couple of RCA in/out and MIDI in/out would
probably do it....... but the option of spdif might come handy down the road, as I grow!!
Which is cheaper/better:(best bang for the buck!!!)

AWE 64 Speaker out level

How can I lower the output level from "speaker out"
on a AWE 64 soundacard. I thought the PC speaker lever
on the Volume control panel would do the trick...but
nothing happened. ????????

Re: AWE 64 Speaker out level and Mike volume

I've had the same Problem...
Here's what I discovered:

there's the volume control for the computer,
and there's the volume control for the soundcard...

the second one is to be found in the creative directory
ctmix32.exe
make sure all the volumes are unmuted and at max volume...

Hi, Sorry I can't help you with that problem but I noticed that your using the same soundcard as me. I'm having problems getting audio out of it whilst using Cubase VST Score 3.5. I was wondering if you are using cubase and if so could you help me?

I Look forward to hearing from you, Jesus.

Software samplers

Which one is the shit? Unity DS-1 or Gigasampler?

Re: Software samplers

I always use simple things as the mellosoftron (recently updated to 3.0)
it works well and does the stuff (is a bit complicated though)

: Which one is the shit? Unity DS-1 or Gigasampler?

I just wanted to mention:

Sonique kicks ass. It plays more file formats than I'd heard of and CDs, looks really cool, and sets up real nice and user-controlable. And it's FREE. No registration. http://www.sonique.com

I, like Paul Harvey (I'm a fan), just happen to like to say something when I find something that's really good at a good bargain. Not all of us musicians make a lot of money with this thing (I'm not the only starving artist in the musician community, am I?), so as far as I'm concerned we need to help each other out...as I see we do.

So now you know the rest of the story.

Freezing -Jammer Professional v3.01.1

Dear Support Manager

I have Jammer Professional v3.01.1. and very much enjoy this composition program.

I have just bought a new laptop (Toshiba Satellite 4060XCDT) and Jammer keeps crashing on it. My previous laptop had Windows 95 and my new one has Windows 98. Is there a known compatibility problem?? Do I need a patch or something ??

How do i burn Realaudio stuff into home cd

I just gots me a cd burner and I need to know what
software i need to make a home audio cd out of
the realplayer clips. I don't think these clips

who needs some help.

If you just want to make a CD which can only be played on your computer then you can just burn the files directly to the CD using the software that came with your burner or you can download a program from the CD Burners Category on this site.

If you want to make a CD which can be played by ANY CD player then you will need to convert your Real Audio files to .wav files before burning them onto a CD - there is an excellent program to do this: Ra2Wav

Re: Wrong...

No everyone seems to be in love with that ra2wav software. But it only converts
realaudio to 8-bit, 8khz sample, mono format. To burn a CD with a WAV file it must
be 16-bit, 44khz, stereo.

MIDI connection to PC w/o MIDI or game port?

I want to connect an old Casio keyboard to a new Gateway
portable that has the following ports: USB, parallel, serial,
PS2. Soundcard apparently supports MIDI but gateway wants me to
buy a docking station to get a game port. Is there some
inexpensive way to adapt to one of the other ports, esp USB.

I only want keyboard input to Harmony Assistant program.

Thanks.

Re: MIDI connection to PC w/o MIDI or game port?

I know that there's a midi connection for the serial port, made by Roland
i haven't got experience with it, so i don't know if it works with other manufacturers's keyboards
you should check it out anyhow :)

Hey there,

Give the guy a break. It's a question many people ask. He's not stupid, just enquiring. What's wrong with that?

Cheers
