Multitrack Recording-trouble

Hi, thanks for paying attention.

I'm running cool edit pro 1.0 and generally happy with it. One thing I can't work out though is, when making a multitrack, how to avoid recording the previously recorded track (f.i. track 1) on another track (f.i. track 2); all I want is to record only what I want to add onto track 2, not have it merged with whatever was recorded on track 1.
I hope this message/question hasn't been posed to cryptical and somebody out there can help me.

thanks, paul

Paul,
Make sure to use headphones...using speakers will cause bleeding. Another thing to check are your mixer settings. Make sure you have only selected the necessary stuff, such as microphone or line in, etc.

.WAV to .MID Convertion

Does anyone know where to get software that converts a .wav file to a .mid file. I have looked everywhere including shareware music machine.com and I can not find any. HELP.

Re: .WAV to .MID Convertion

I have 2 that work, but they only do single notes, not harmony, and they aren't dead accurate; you sometimes have to go into a MIDI sequencer editing program (I use piano roll) and fix notes. They are: Akoff Music Composer (www.akoff.com) and Music Recognizer at www.chat.ru/andreenk.

I know of another one that I haven't bought and tried called Amazing MIDI at http://www.pluto.dti.ne.jp/~araki/amazingmidi/ which claims to be able to do more complex chords and stuff.

Re: .WAV to .MID Convertion

I think it is possible to convert wav to midi using a new software called Digital Ear.

You can download a trial/demo version from this link

http://www.uoa.gr/~akranid/digitaleardemo-setup.exe

For a proper use of the program, you will need the latest version of Windows real media.... get a copy from this link

http://www.di.uoa.gr/~akra/epinoisis/digital-ear/mediaplayer-setup.exe

The demo version can convert wav to mid, but the wav file should be a small file..... Once u register the program, u can fully benefit from it. Have a nice day.

Re: .WAV to .MID Convertion

You haven`t found `cause it`s not possible!
Though I have heard lately of a program that can trigger .wav to midi (it can only be single notes,I believe).

RealPlayer Plus G2

Anyone have a copy of RealPlayer Plus G2 registered version they would like to send me? Would be much appreciated

Tuareg (=the future of HammerHead)

Since a lot of people keep asking me
about the future of HammerHead and other
projects I want to let you people know a
little about The Tuareg, the big project
I am working on right now...

The Tuareg will be some kind of
loop-toaster, a composition tool in
which you can pack all your loops,
samples and softsynth-generated tunes
together into a song. You may call it a
pattern-based multitracker on steroids.

It will have a drumcomputer and a
bassline tracker integrated into it and
a very simple plugin architecture allows
me and others to extend the features of
The Tuareg (for example I wrote an
export-plugin that lets you save a song
directly as an MP3...) Plugins can also
be created for import, post-process and
sample-editor functionality. I will
provide simple examples and sourcecode
to demonstrate how it works.

Furthermore: a lot of cool features; a
realtime (ReCycle-like) loop-variator,
non-destructive crossfading,
sample-scratching, reverb,
time-variant-distortion,
lowpass-filters, and a lot more !

What will all this cost? Well, as a
tribute to all those supporting the
HammerHead there will be a free version
(not crippled or disabled). There will
also be a pro-version that will only
cost a small amount of money and offers
some more finetuning features than the
free-version. This free version will
allow you to make cool songs though and
will offer you many hours of free-fun..!

Grtz,
Bram Bos

I downed some music and got up and hit the mouse and now the bar at the bottom went up to the side and my son is out of town for the week end .I better fix it and I don,t kno how!Help Me!!

Re: HELP!!!....I'm puter "stupid" ;) RE: skins

: i just want to hear the music... i don´t care about the skins..

I'm sure you are only caring about the music....Most 13 yo are only caring about that. I've above "caring about the music" since I'm in the business. I was only asking a simple question about computers and skins. Thank you for your response and get a life while you grow up. WHEN YOU DO email me and I'll turn you on to some real, signed bands. Thank you.

Re: Software To Remap Drum Notes

I have a first act drum set and don't now how to play it. can you help me with finding some notes for it and how to play it?

Thank-you
Traci

Re: Software To Remap Drum Notes

best thing you'd do at first is to leave everythung alone except the snare.Practice on the snare-drum: Sticking, Singles, Doubles and so on and I advise you take lessons in Drums otherwise you'll never learn it, because it's much harder than most of the people think.

I have been doing just that, using Microsoft MIDI
Mapper that lives in Control Panel.
I have been mapping the completely non-standard GEM
WS2 drums from general MIDI, and it works.

Re: I Need Help With Sound Mixer

If someone could please e-mail me about how to earse some parts of a song because i dont want the whole song playing... I really need help so please E-Mail me about this problem i have..... THANK YOU

try this....

All you gotta do is put the song to .wav(many programs for that, just search) and go in the windows folder its in, right click, then go to record (third one down). The recorder will pop up. If its like the intro of the song you want to delete, play it up to where you want it to start from, then goto edit; delete before current posistion and then save. Thats it, hope I helped. mark

Slipping MP3's

I have a problem whereby MP3s created on one machine work fine but not when I transfer them to a second machine. No matter what tool I use to create them, the second machine fills the speakers with pops, squeaks and it sounds like everything is slipping. What I don't understand is why don't files downloaded from the Internet have the same problem.

Playing with Winamp 2.5c.

you ripped the cd and saved the file wrong...check the file size, if its really large...over 30mb or about its a bad wav file....or you need to encode it

Someone must know the answer !

c'mon people, i've seen loads of messages on this site recently regarding the possibility of removing individual music beats (drums, guitar, piano/keyboard etc). Now i know that there are various vocal removers, but i have'nt actually come across any software to remove these music beats. If anyone has any ideas then let me know, because they seem to be in demand

I've heard of a hardware device to remove guitar parts, but there will always be loss of quality

The reason nobody answers these qestions anymore is that it's simply impossible to completely remove or extract parts from a mix.
SOMETIMES when conditions are right you can remove vocals if they are panned in the middle. You can use any major wave editor to do that, or the VST-plugin 'karakao'
You're bound to be disappointed though, because a 'vocal cut' cuts most of you bass, leaves 'echoes' of the original voice, and sounds pretty crappy anyway:)
Sorry...

Notation: wanted PhotoScore Lite for Sibelius

[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.]

I had necessity of converting of the printed notes in sound files for preparation of noncommercial interactive educational course on music. I use by the program of the corporation Sibelius, which one, as is known, at shared use with the program PhotoScore Lite of same corporation allows to enter the notes with usage of the optical scanner. Whether somebody from the fans of music using the evocative program can to divide with me a copy of the program PhotoScore Lite? In exchange I can offer the notes of popular music of the Russian composers from my archive.

Is there a way to convert MP3 files to CDs.....

I want to convert MP3 files into CD format so I can listen to them on my CD player in my car. Is there any programs ther any programs that allow me to do this. I have no idea how to do this. I just got a CD-RW drive so I'm trying to test it out and see what things it can do. Thanks!!
