she has bought sound gear with her winnings, and I said I would try and download some tracks for her, but being a newbie, i never twigged it would be so much of a challenge!...This is why i'm here!!

I can operate a PC well but don't know the jargon, so please reply as if speaking to a young child!

Is it free or do I pay.I am looking for a good sexy version of ( You give me Fever ) for a dancing show and would pay within reason. This is for more dancing to than singing but will be singing at one stage to it. Help if you can Many thanks Sharon

I need a program to compose music

I haave found a few nice programs on-line that would be perfect for composing and printing sheet music. The only problem is that they are all demo versions and there are no good free software. I can't afford to go and buy the sofftware so if you or anybody can help me get a good program I'd really really really apreciate it. Send me a line at jessestratton@hotmail.com

Re: I need a program to compose music

check out noteworthy composer... full version is only $39! demo is online - it's great!

removing vocals

can anyone tell me a program i can use to remove vocals from songs/mp3 etc

How do I extract vocals from mp3's/midi's etc

can anyone tell me a program i can use to remove vocals from songs

Re: How do I extract vocals from mp3's/midi's etc

If you are trying to cut the vocals and leave the sound you can use Cool Edit Pro 2.1/ Adobe Audition. As for keeping the vocals and cutting the music I would like to know myself

Re: How do I extract vocals from mp3's/midi's etc

: can anyone tell me a program i can use to remove vocals from songs

The only thing that I have been able to do is download "karaoke" music from Napster. There really is quite a selection, but I have yet to find any software that will allow me to do it from my PC. Good luck, and let me know if you are successful.

Re: How do I extract vocals from mp3's/midi's etc

i don't have one for you but if anyone does e-mail
me and tell me what its called were i can get it
at and all that other nonesense

Re: How do I extract vocals from mp3's/midi's etc

There is one called Analog X but it sucks cause it distorts the song and you can still hear the vocals...
if anyone knows where to get something better plaeas let me know

Midi problem using Generator and Sequencer

I have trouble connecting Generator to CubasisAV using midi. When Gnereator is installed, the midi connection between Cubasis and the midi-keyboard is disabled. I´ve tried to connect the programs using Midiyoke, but it hasnt helped. If someone could give me a precise description of how I can get the midi working I would be really thankful.

Is Cubase 2.8 any good ?

I've downloaded cubase 2.8 of some freeware internet site, but i don't know whether it's any good. Before i install it on my home pc, i was wondering if anyone has used it, and what their verdict was.

thanx

Need some advice !

hello all

i'm just about to enter the mixing world, but i dpn't know what i really need. I want to know what software would be best for my requirements, and good enough to work on my pc. My main work is going to involve mixing various tracks together, taking out vocals (all other stuff such as music, certain instuments etc), and then recording the finished article on to cd's.

Now, i have'nt got too much to spend, so i need some advice on the following software and hardware devices that i need.

1. Which sound card should i get ?. Soudblaster live value is about the right price (£60 uk pounds), and i'm told it will do the job, but i'm not 100% sure.

2.What software should i get and where do i get it from ?. I've heard of Cubase, Cakewalk and re-birth, but which is the best one? Also, i've read various messages on this site about vocal removers, but can you get other kind of removers that take away various instruments/beats out the music ? If you could give me a price range, or even a site where i could download it from.

3.And what about a CD-ReWriter ? I want one that will not waste cd's by recording faulty music, and will allow me to play the cd's on other devices such as hi-fi's, car stereo etc. I'm not too familiar with the speed, i mean i've seen various writers that say 8x2x6, but what does each number mean, and what sort should i buy ?

Please remember, i'm just new to this scene, therefore i cannot afford to spend too much.

thanx to all of ya who help others on this site, it's brilliant that you can get some advice and tips without paying loads of money for it.

New,
There are jillions of products out there, but I have found a great deal of success with
MAGIX products for production. They have a great sampler in MUSIC MAKER and a MIDI/AUDIO studio in the deluxe
version which has more production possiblities than Sonic Foundry.
Best of Luck

MP3 to WAV conversion?

I need to convert MP3 files from my hard drive
to WAV files so I can burn them & play them on my
home stereo!
What's the best & easiest program to do this?

I already have AudioCatalyst but I'm not sure how to
retrieve files from hard drive to copy. It only seems
to access my CD Rom drive for source files.
Is there a way to do it? I've set it up by the book!
I have read the instructions & I still can't
figure it out!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: MP3 to WAV conversion?

Winamp seems to have a plugin for that (in the "output" section). The only thing is, I did not find a way to start that plugin. Any suggestions?

Re: MP3 to WAV conversion? - Sorry!!!!

I'm very sorry, I was mistaken! The tool u need is to be downloaded at:
http://ec2000.xperiment.net/cgi-bin/download.cgi?MPEGSuite
It's free, it works a little slowly but with excellent quality and various options available.
Good luck!

Layla looks good on paper-has anyone used it?

I need an interface with 8 analog ins. And I don't want
to pay a lot for this muffler.
Thanks!

Re: Layla looks good on paper-has anyone used it?

About Echo Layla:
Yeah, I love it and works perfect in every situation.
Easy to install and a well worked out easy mixer
for input-, output- and monitor-gains and superiour
audio quality.
But if you want the most perfect sound card
(in my opinion) buy the Creamware Pulsar
with the legendary SHARK DSP-Processors:
A little bit more expensive than LAYLA, but look at their
webpage what's the features of it. Absolutely worth
its money. (but it's NO game card!!!)

Hope that could help anyone who wants to know
what's the best soundcard in the world.
