Bietet jemand erfahrungstausch?

Danke für freundliche hinweise.

Re: Ist "band-in-a-box" empfehlenswert?

My german is a bit rusty so I will not respond in it.

But, yes, this is a program worth buying. I am amazed at how much it can do and how much I have learned from it. The music listed on the link below was all created using Band in a Box software. I tell people this and they simply don't believe me. They keep asking, "but who is that playing the piano solo/drums/etc?"

version 8.0 (recently released) has some very nice features. The one I like best is the guitar tablature. I am just learning how to play bass and I can look at what is happening on the tablature for the bass as the song plays. Very cool.

I recommend this product highly. Also, the tech support is very nice. I actually wanted to purchase some extra style disks and they instead upgraded me to the latest version with all the extra style disks instead. Saved me a bundle.

Enjoy it and have fun with it.

hmmm. This didn't post my link.

Creating individual tracks from one WAV file

I have a CD that contains a recording which is one
track that is approx 1 hour long. The recording needs
dividing into a number of individual tracks.
I can do it by playing the CD on an external player
and recording it via the audio in of the sound card but
I would like to do it straight from the PC's CD onto
the hard drive without losing quality.
What is the best software to use?????

audiograbber or audiocatalyst

audiocatalyst is a kind of audiograbber 2 and
more compatible with cd-roms.

use one of them.

You assholes aren't accomplishing anything by reposting the original message without adding anything. If there's a reason for this practice beyond pure stupidity, I'd like to know.

Quasar instructions

Does anybody have a pdf manual about quasar-I look for english instructions

Re: Quasar instructions

: Does anybody have a pdf manual about quasar-I look for english instructions. I am trying to program my remote for my tv and need instructions
Remote: LSSQ0209

Re: Quasar instructions

I'm having a hard time getting cable on my Quesar TV/VCR. The signal is good but I can't get any channels. Does anyone know what the problem is?

where do I start?

After 9 years of piano, 2 years of drums, and 1 year of DJing, I have decided to dabble in an attempt at creating music with my PC...I am presently in the market for a new comp, and will be getting a very powerful dual Pentium III system. I was thinking of getting a Creative Labs SB Live, and then possibly hooking up a synth to it and work from there...a local music shop advised me to go for a Yamaha EX5 or 7. I am totally lost, and was wondering if anyone could offer me some suggestions as to what sound card to get, synth and any other equipment that I may need.

Thanks!

Re: where do I start?

Creamware Pulsar is the most perfect studio card
I ve ever seen and heard.
But: It s NO soundcard for games.
Good Soundcards are also the Event-(now Echo)
series (Darla, Gina, Layla, Mona)

which style of music do you want to make?

here's a list of hardware you could get:

SYNTH:
- depends on the style
SAMPLER:
- Akai S2000 / S3000XL / S3200

- SB-live is a good choice but if you need more
outputs get an AudioWerk-2 or AW-8

- a cheap fx-unit would also help

you'll also need a sequencer-proggy. I think
you should choose between Cubase or Logic.

Re: which style of music do you want to make?

I'd like to attempt Trance and Drum'n'Bass styles.
Would Sampling Hardware really be necessary? couldn't I just use a sampling prog?

Any idea on average pricing in U.S. dollars for the above mentioned items in your post?

Thanks fer the reply! Your help is greatly appreciated!

Ang

Re: which style of music do you want to make?

for these styles you'll find a great choice of
synths to get:
- Access Virus (~$1100) that's the best one you
can get for money!!
- Roland JP8000 (~$1200)
- Yamaha CS1x (~$600)

there are a lot more of them, just have a look at
the following sites to get some impressions...
http://www.synthzone.com
http://www.vintagesynth.com
http://www.hyperreal.org/music/machines/samples.html?MMAgent
(here you can find loads of samples)

instead of a sampler you could also use a sampling-
software. but as I'm using a hardware unit I
can't give you any hint concerning this.
the only prog that comes into my mind is the
"gigasampler" from nemesys.

I hope I could help you further...

This only happens with files I save in Cool Edit Pro. How do I convert them to make them encodable? Someone PLEASE mail me back with somekind of answer!!!

Re: Encoding Cool edit pro WAVS

Just save your files as Windowspcm(*wav)
Then you can use any(I use AudioCatalyst)encoder...

Re: Encoding Cool edit pro WAVS

That is what I have been doing...If I save them as Windows PCM wavs, I cant open them in ANY kind of encoder, including AudioCatalyst. I've tried saving them as every type of wav available in cool edit pro, then I tried converting to mono, 16bit, 32bit...it doesnt matter.

Re: whos' BEST?event gina?layla?EMU studio?lexicon core2?

I have a darla card from event1. (makers of the gina) and it works great! Cant complain but my guess is that all the cards that you brought up are just fine.

Re: whos' BEST?event gina?layla?EMU studio?lexicon core2?

The Core2 has its share of problems, but the price is right. It's fairly full-featured. I'm not saying it's the best, but in the right setup it will certainly do the job very well.

Re: whos' BEST?event gina?layla?EMU studio?lexicon core2?

I have the Lexicon Core2 and it works good not great. It was difficult to optimize it with Windows and Media Player doesn't work with it. I have tried different versions of Media Player and cannot get it to work. It does work with other programs like CakeWalk 9 and the ADAT light pipe works pretty good. To sync more than one pass of the ADAT (if you are copying 16 tracks or more with one ADAT machine to the computer) you will need an external timecode translator like the JLCooper dataSYNC2 and a midi card to bring the timecode into your application. I thought that sucked but I guess that is the way lightpipe works. It would be nice if you could sync your audio application to timecode from the lightpipe.

Just hook up your Atari MIDI-out to your PC MIDI-in and select the correct port for MIDI-sync in ReBirth.
It would be wise to free one MIDI channel for ReBitrh control messages.

transfering

I need to know how do I transfer music that I have already downloaded on to a cd. What are the procedures? Can someone help?

Re: How to go from tape to digital to CD and MP3?

If you use a sound recorder such as Sound Forge or Cool Edit you should be able to run a line out from the tape machine into the line in of your sound card. This will record the music as a .wav file which can be immediately used to burn CDs. There are lots of freeware that can be used to encode that .wav file into an mp3 file. Just do a search for freeware and Mp3 encoder.
