Hello, my friend!
Bad news: since MIDI is just bunch of digits (not actual music) there are no such sofware exist. For simple melodies, probably, some of the music recognition programs might work. You can find some of those programs at www.histsquad.com/smm.
Sorry.

VST audio recording Spill

When I record an audio track, I get spill from previous recorded tracks - particularly drums & bass - unless I turn everything else right down (and its not from the phones) - anyone know what I'm doing wrong ?

It sounds like you're looping your output back into your soundcards input.
Make sure ONLY the.input source you're recording is connected to the input.
Use your soundcards mixer to disable recording your soundcards wave output, this may be your problem.
Else get a real-life hardware mixer to make things easier....:)

Hope this helps

Extracting the vocals from a song

I know there is a method to _remove_ the vocals from a song, but what should I do to remove the music and be left with just the vocal track?

I have tried mixing instrumental tracks on top of non-instrumental versions of the same track, but it requires a LOT of presision.

Any ideas/progs.??

Re: Extracting the vocals from a song

Yeah, I also looking for a program to do this

Re: Extracting the vocals from a song

A Roland VS 880 / 1680 has a function called voice canceling. It works ok: not great but very acceptable

There isn't any effective way of doing it unfortunately. You can play arround with EQ to reduce the vocal's prominence - the main band for vocals is between 1Khz and 3 Khz.

Reinstall MusicTime Deluxe

I'm trying to reinstall MusicTime on a new PC but the install wizard is requesting a serial number from the box and I've long since lost or thrown out the box. I've contacted GVOX regarding this problem but haven't heard back. Any ideas on how I can get my serial number (assuming GVOX can't help me).

Hi!
1. SBLIVE VASLUE.
What do you mean: different types of SVLive!. Can you give me example? As far as i know Creative Labs has only one product called SBlive Value. (Not to be confused with SBLive! - different products and differet prices).
2. OEM.
OEM - means Original Equipment Manufacturer. F. i. you have 'no frills' CD-R - looks like Sony, fills like Sony but manufactured in Mexico and called MexCDR. You most likely will get OEM software with it which means this software was adopted for this specific CD-R and works great with this CD-R. It most likely won't work on other CD-R's and other sofware titles won't work on your CD-R.
3. Soundcards.
You can:
- Remove old soundcard and install new soundblaster.
- Keep 2 soundcards. In this case there is a good chance that there will be an address conflict. Creative Labs states that SBLive was not developed with ability to cope with another sound card. They advice cutomers who prefer to have 2 soundcards to have second one as ISA (not PCI) card to prevent conflicts.

If you need just one card:
a) uninstall your existing soundcard sofware (start/settings/control panel/add/remove programs)
Note. If you don't know what to remove look at your soundcard manual or call manufacturer.
b) Shut down comp.
c) Open the cover and pull (jently shaking from side-to-side) sound card.
d) Insert SB in any PCI slot.
e) Turn-on computer on follow the instructions on the screen and SB manual.
Whish you luck.

Sound ripper?

Hi

I am looking for a program, that "rips" any sound from a sound card. Somewhere on the net I have seen one, but I forgotten where. I don´t know how it works, but I guess it in some way "dumbs" the data to a file, while or instead of playing it. Just like a screen capture utility.

PLZ anyone

Download <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a> from this site.

Re: get Total Recorder

Beware: Total Recorder Porgram Installation

While it is a nice concept, and listed as freeware, Total Recorder does cost money to purchase, and the trial version limits your recording of soundfiles to a few seconds. The sound quality of these recordings is lower than usual.

The most annoying aspect of this is should you decide to un-install Total Recorder, it does not restore your Windows settings to their origianl defaults. The result? I did have the Windows Sound Recorder to use for basic sound recording tasks prior to the installation of Total Recorder. Now I have NONE. I cannot for the life of me find the settings which I need to change to restore my Windows sound recorder. I suppose that this means that i I would like to record a wave file again, I might have to purchase Total Recorder and re-install it, bad sound and all.

If this sounds like a case of sour grapes, consider my present situation: I have a website which I have been trying to update, and part of that process is recording and posting some sound files which I no longer can do, after my free download and trial of Total Recorder. And a 'freeware program that takes and limits the ability of your system to perform normal everyday tasks, is not free at all. This trial has cost me, in loss of functional software, time, and in terms of extreme frustration... I think that you can figure that cost out!

real audio to mp3

is anybody aware of a way to convert real audio files to mp3's!

Re: real audio to mp3

: is anybody aware of a way to convert real audio files to mp3's!

Firstly you have to convert your RealAudio to .WAV using either <A href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Ra2Wav_Pentium/">Ra2Wav</a> or <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a>

Then convert your .WAV file to .MP3 using <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a>
