yes you can

Ive made plenty of hip hop beats using fruity loops. try tweeking the sounds, or turning off the "use riff" key for sounds that are two complex. Try bying a sound clips library (similar to clip art) and use those sounds. Also, turn the speed down to 75-100 bpm.

imageline has a sample cd which contains various flps and samples from a variety of genres(such as hiphop bigbeeat house etc...) I am sure they have some other cd that may be of this genre or another. Also since hiphop should be the same (sorta) as it was some years back you could probably check out other softwares and communities that house hiphop peoples. If all else fails you can just like think up a beat in your head and throw it down...? Why not just listen to your favorite hiphop track then plot some drums to where they are get some samples.. the more you try the better you will get at it, I can understand your question though. If you have the money I suggest getting the sample cd by imageline/fruityloops.(it should be available thorugh the site.)

I USE FRUITYLOOPS STRICTLY FOR HIP-HOP BEATS
IF YOU ARE REGISTERED YOU CAN DOWNLOAD DRUMKITS
DIRECTLY FROM FL'S SITE. IF NOT THERE ARE PLENTY OF SITES YOU CAN DL HIP-HOP DRUMKITS FROM.
TOO MANY FOR ME TO TYPE A LIST. TYPE: FREE SAMPLES IN YOUR SERVERS SEARCH OPTION AND A LIST OF SITES SHOULD APPEAR. YOU CAN THEN GO THROUGH THE SITES TO FIND THE SOUNDS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN ALSO GET PLUG-INS TO GET THOSE SOUNDS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. HOPE THAT HELPED GOOD LUCK!

Hey, Fruity only for electronics music
Techno is better than HipHop, HipHop makes me sleep cause 90 Bpm is too slow
Use SoundForge or all you wants to modify your Kick tune

Hey Stupid do you know about wavs? I only use FLP 3 to produce hip hop tracks, what the fuck... do you want the program to do everything for your lazy ass? Get Wavelab 3, Recycle, and FLP and you'll start making wack tracks like the pros dumbass. Also read some fucking books about Music Production you just made hip hop heads look bad on this board.

Dan if You look near the volume and filter controls in the top right corner of the fruityloop interface ,you will see a lever setting called swing you might have to put your mouse on it and it will say swing. Program any beat rock,funk,even alittle teckno jazz ,whatever as you move the lever it will swing the beat.Anything above a degree of 60% will give a hiphop feel to any drumbeat. Basically it's a 16th note shuffle rhythm. If you have a midi sequencer and know how to make a 8th note shuffle for blues and jazz swing changing the 8th note setting to 16th notes will give a hiphop feel. You do this through the quintize(sorry if I mispelled it.) feature.

I also have been looking for a a program for loops that makes more of a hip hop beat. I started using 'hammer head', you should check it out.

the last guy to write was correct about the swing element, 'hammer head' calls it 'shuffle' but it has the same effect. I don't know all the specifics like him, but I it does feel bluesy.

this is the format I found for making a hip hop beat. assuming that you have 4/4 time on all loop generators, I use two bars. (I've further copied adding a fast high hat beats which sounds good) that's a total of 32 individual beats.
anyway, I'm going to try to outline this beat I've chosen, here goes:
(use two different snares if possible)

tempo: 90 snare1: s snare2: S Bass:B

with this, you can put a REALLY heavy bass at 1,15,17,31; how ever you like it.
you can also throw in some closed high hat's all over the place after repeating this rythym for as many bars as you want. (high hat: h)It's sounds pretty good. just mix and match till you get what you like.

the only problem with hammer head is I only get 8 bars. oh well, what other beat makers are out there for free?

the basic d&b beat i 1 and 11 with yourkick drum
an 5 and 13 with your snare in a 16 beat measure or in 32 just apply the same pattern as for hip hop all beats are basd off of that pattern

kick 1 3 7 9 11
snare 5 8 10 13

add subtract as you please

Fruity is a perfect Hip-Hop tool.
Probobly better for Hip-Hop/Rap than electronic.
I use it ALL the time for freestyling/studio cuts/live. Dont listen to those who say its ONLY for "electronic".

Cubase won't install properly

I downloaded cubase vst 3.7 (the file is named pc_vst_score_37r2_update) from this website, but it won't install properly. During the installation phase, cubase.exe starts to get copied, but then a screen pops up and says: The file C:\cubase1\\Cubase.exe could not be opened.
C:\cubase1 is the directory in which I have the installtion .exe file. So what is the problem?

It`s exactly what it says: An update!You have to have Cubase VST 3.x (the program) before you can make any use of the update.

strange things going on?

I have just installed cubase and have noticed after a
while it starts to do some strange things, any-thing
from playing a note that I'm not playing to changing
the sound on my keyboard and even adding pitchbend
and changing the volume when it feels like it!
Do I have a ghost in my system or is it a set up problem.

Exporting wav or ra file to disk

Hi.
Maybe someone can help me with this problem:
1) I've completed an audio+midi project.
2) I want to put it on a disk so that anyone can stick it into a CD player and hear it.
3) I don't have a device to make my own disks. I only have diskettes on which to transfer my .wav or .ra files to a friend who can copy them to a disk.
Wav format is however too large, and .ra is on the brink of being too large as well to fit on 1.44 floppy.
Moreover, even when the .ra is copied on a disk. It won't just start playing when you stick into a regular CD-player.
Is there software to convert .ra files to files that can be played on regular CD-players.
Appreciate the information.

COOLEDIT! COOLEDIT! It is the best! do not buy any other peice of software. GHet a cooledit demo off this site. I use the shareware version of cooledit 96 and have no desire to upgrade!

Transferring music on LPs to CDs

I have a Samsung 48X CD-ROM drive and a HP 8200i
CD-Writer. I also have, of course, a phonograph.
I'd like to transfer all of my old LPs
to CDs, but don't know how. Could anyone help?

People these days tend to forget that turntables need a dedicated pre-amp (RIIA) which is often absent in today`s hi-fi amps, i.o.w. the phono channel.Connect the line out from the amp into your sound card and record via some software(I`m sure there are some share-or freeware you can use).

I tend to get skips/jumps in recorded music during playback.

I'm a novice when it come to this but I am using Magix's Cleaning Lab software and it does well. The only problem I've is when recording to hard drive, things are fine but when I playback the recorded music I'll get skips/jumps in the data as if the original music was defective.Tell me what am I doing wrong! Or is it the software or my PCU (933Mhz, Pent III, 40 Gig). I've a lot of old rcords I wish to convert into CDs and if this is the best Magix can do maybe I need another! Thanks, Morris

First of all you've got to connect your recordplayer to the line-in of your soundcard.
Then you can record with a program like Soundforge, Cool Edit, or Dart Pro 98 (on this site you can find lots of examples)and save your recordings as WAV files. Once you got those files on your harddrive you can burn them to a recordable disc.

This is nothing like recording LPs/tape of the old days. There's also System Resources of your computer to consider. You can't play FreeCell, browse the Web, and things of that nature to consider. TURN OFF ALL unnecessary programs (VScan, QuickFind, ScreenSaver, etc.) or you'll have gaps in your recordings!
Mike Richter has a great Tutoral on this subject at http://mrichter.simplenet.com. Go there, d/l all the html files and read them at your leasure off line.

to make them work on a cd you must make sure that the software you use (Music Match is a good one) will burn the track onto the cd in cd audio (not wav or mp3) format otherwise the cd wont work in a normal cd player.

RM mono file to MP3 converter

I am searching for a utility that will convert a "Mono" RM format audio file to a stereo MP3 or WAV format. I use RealPlayer 7 and am attempting to convert so I can save to CD-R but RP7 says that it cannot save a mono file to "any" format at this time. Is there a tool available that will do this? I have been looking for a while now with no luck and I really want to find one. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for your help!
