Re: Read this if you want to know how to convert mp3>cd audio fo

If you don't, email your mp3s to a friend who does have a burner and do the mp3>wav conversion at their house.

No, you cannot write CDs with a normal CD-Rom drive.

Re: Read this if you want to know how to convert mp3>cd audio fo

I have a MAC and none of the programs seem to work for Mac. Can you suggest one? I want to burn audio CDs from MP3s

Thanks,

me :)

ou may try the "jukebox", or the upgrade of that excellent progranm which plays and records several filec formats. When an MP3 is recorded, itv seems to be automatically converted to the "CD-player-friendly" format. I'm not sure ifv this handy program comes in a MAC-friendly form, or if itself is MAC-friendly.

Soft Synth for Techno..?

Can anyone tell me what the hell kind of synths they use for a lot of Hard Acid Techno? Kind of dificult to describe it, but currently using cubase/rebirth/vaz on an SBLive!, and you just can't get the right kind of sound. 303's are classic, but hey times have changed. Is there a soft synth that sounds a bit more, well, banging?

Buzz's address

: I found Buzz's homepage !

I think it's the best tracker - synthetizer.
Moules can easily be added. Machines system is great!

It's hard to learn but it's -really- worth.

Try Rubber Duck, It can make like a 303 if you want it to, but apart from that you can make this baby squeal and howl like no Roland synth has ever done....
For the more refined noise try Reaktor or VAZ modular. There's no end to the sounds you make on these.
Vaz modular lets you use VST and DX-Plugins, so try adding some distortion on your sounds and kick ass :)

Re: Soft Synth for Techno..?

Thanks mate, already tried vaz and it's not quite what I'm looking for. Simsynth seems to have some pretty nice sounds - very rich. Will try Rubber Duck though, cheers...

Re: Soft Synth for Techno..?

: Hey, if you are a bit hard-working, try BUZZ !
It's a widely-spread freeware looking like a mix
of Fast tracker and a TRUE synthethizer !

The techno made with that is not really Hard & acid, but it's nice !

Sorry, no link, find it yourself.

problem playing .cda file

I burned an audio CD and the file is a .cda. My stereo deck doesnt recognize teh disk. I cant play the music.

The disk works fine when played thru CD player on my computer and also on my 5 disk CD changer/pro -logice receiver.

Can u help me diagnozing the problem please.

Re: problem playing .cda file

the .cda doesn't mean anything, it only represents the presence of a CD audio file... anyways, probably what it is, if your stereo os cheap, the CD laser won't read CD-r discs, if it work in your other equipment.

Recording off the net

I have a question. Is there a recording program that can record anything that comes out of the speakers? For instance. I would like to record a streaming audio file onto a wav format, but when I open my sound recording software, and try to record it, it just records silence. My sound card is a Creative Labs Soundblaster Live Value. If anybody can help me, please respond using my email address. Thanks!

Re: Recording off the net

Total Recorder (http://highcriteria.com) is good. Loop Recorder (http://www.looprecorder.de/) is also good, especially for capturing netcasts.

Want to buy a cd/rw. Looking for REAL suggestions on brand vs.

In particular: what is the difference between an internal vs. external unit? And specifically, what port does such an item plug in to? I know nothing about these things, just that I need one to make my own cd's. Thanks

Re: Want to buy a cd/rw. Looking for REAL suggestions on brand

External can use the following:
SCSI, Paralell, USB.
if it's SCSI it will have good bandwidth, but you have to have a SCSI adapter, paralell just sucsk, really.. it will conflict, and it's slow. good if you want to start a beer coaster business.
USB is sorta in between. good speed, but if you have a lot of USB stuff already hooked up, performance will suffer. however, most PC's already have the USB port.

as for internal, well, SCSI or IDE/UDMA.. if it's ATA/UDMA then go with ATA66, it's fastest for IDE.

as for brands, there are a lot out there, but in general, Yamaha, and Plextor make some of the better quality ones. stay away from Sony, and "Smart & Friendly". my friend bought the S&F and it sucks badly.

Hope this helps out a bit

Re: Want to buy a cd/rw. Looking for REAL suggestions on brand

Think nothing but Plextor & Nero Burning ROM!!!!

Beware

While I'm not too quick to judge, I HAVE heard from people that Nero is unreliable, but then, I've had problems with Adpatec also.... try demo versions of they're out there, and use what your most comfortable with, and on the flip side of THAT coin, I do know that Plextor is definately one of the tried, tested and true makes out there.

Re: cubase+ mc 505 .DEV file please???

Hello,
Name here is David.
I am looking for the .dev file for the Roland MC 505 for Cubase VST.
Does ANYONE have it for me, or to let me know where to get it from??

I can't get Cubase to play ANYTHING on the MC 505, not even a simple MIDI data recieve. But it will transmit fine to my Roland A 30 Keyboard.

Just wonder if this file has out to do with it??

:I have an mc303 and i had the same problem. What you need to do is go into modules on the main vst window ang click studio module, then press add, and then look in your cubase folder for a folder that says mc 505. And then you should be able to see your voices in the instrument window. Apart from that you just have to mess around until you sort it.

Guitar emulation/strummer software for MIDI Keyobard

Does anyone know of a MIDI software program that will let me play chords on my MIDI keyboard and have it altered to sound like stummed guitar chords?

How to remove music from a track with vocals?

I have track A which consists of 3 layers: drums, strings, and vocals. I also have track B which consists of only drums and strings from track A, but has no vocals. Well, I'm trying to get the vocals back as I no longer have that track separatly.

Is there a way to simply "subtract" track B from track A and be left only with vocals? They are identical studio recordings except that track B was done with the vocal track "muted". Any help would be really appreciated.

Re: How to remove music from a track with vocals?

Is there somewhere I can buy Jordan Hill Remember Me This Way without the vocals? I am really rushed for this music. I plan to sing it at graduation and its in 3 weeks. I am looking for an online store or anything really. Please help

Re: How to remove music from a track with vocals?

If the both tracks A and B are completely wholly identical (I mean really really identical), a phase inverted copy of track B applied to track A will cancel the drums and strings and leave only vocals. Unfortunately, most audio editors use something called "non destructive editting". This means that the program will adjust the sign of each sample in order to stop phase cancellations.

You can circumvent this though: If you have an external mixer with a phase inverter, run both tracks, invert one, and record the output. Do one channel at a time (left or right)

I have the same problem tracks completely identical except one with instermental+vocals and one an instermental. I've tried doing the above in cool edit pro but I guess the "non destructive editing" feature gets in the way. I don't have an external editor is thier any program that has an inverter but no non destructive editing feature.

Re: How to remove music from a track with vocals?

Try AnaogX.com
They have vocal remover software plugins for Winamp and Direct x.

Good Luck.

Re: How to remove music from a track with vocals?

It's a bit o a long shot, but if you use a digital editor like Cooledit, and use noise reduction, you might be able to do it. you need to sample part of what you want to remove (Strings & drums) and get the NR function to remove that (basically your telling the program that that sample is unwanted noise) you may have to fool around with settings to get it to sound good, but excellent results are not guarantueed.

Re: How to remove music from a track with vocals?

Yeah, that works awesome for small sections, but not for a 5 minute track. Any other suggestions?

cd-r format? HELP!!!

I have a sony cd-r and music match jukebox ... trying to make a CD for the first time ... when i try to make an audio cd, it says drive not ready, but it will read a cdrom fine ... the music match isn't the problem because windows explorer gives me the same thing. do i need to format an audio cd first? ... and how do i format it?? thanks.,

Cool! now some info

CD's do not need to be formatted, they are a write once media, so soon as something is done, it's there forever, unless it's a CD-RW (rewriteable) but those don't need to be formatted either.

Guitar Tracks

I just found this site, and have no idea what it includes. Here's my story, and what I need: I'm a semi-musician - a rhythm guitarist/singer. I've played in full bands and duos, but am now doing some solo stuff -- strictly covers.

I could really use a lead guitar on some songs, to break up the monotony of one voice-one guitar.

I was told that I might be able to find something like karaoke tracks, but ones that would allow me to selectively delete whatever instruments I didn't want.

I'd like to have something that I can put on MiniDisc, and then play it thru the PA while I play and sing along.

Can anyone help? An e-mail to me, rather than a posted reply, would definitely be better. But if posting is all you can do, that would be fine -- and VERY much appreciated.

Thanks-

Re: Guitar Tracks

Your best bet is to use a Roland or Yamaha MIDI player/Sequencer which will allow you to play back MIDI files on floppy disk which are free on the web with all the tracks up to 16. The other option is to buy a laptop computer like a Compaq or IBM,ect. that has a stereo sound card and playback systems to play MIDI files of your songs.
