Re: GET RID OF GAPS BETWEEN TRACKS!!!

Sorry about that last e-mail (I think I resent a previous one of someone else by mistake). This follow-up posting is a little screwy. I use Adaptec Easy CD Creator Pro. When you burn to disk select "disk at once" this will eliminate the 2 second gap between tracks. Other CD burning software might do the same but I'm not familiar with them.
Be sure there are no recorded silent spots at the beginning or ending of the wave file prior to burning or you will have silent spots between tracks regardless.

How to Use CoolEdit 2000 to burn files from Cassettes to PC?

Hi All,
Now I understand that CoolEdit 2000 can be used to Burn music from Cassettes to PC. But how do I go about doing it. How do I connect my cassette player to my PC. Are there any requirements on part of my PC in order to do the above. I have COMPAQ Presario 5030 machine. Where can I find a thorough information on the same. The help provided along with the software does not talk much about this thing.
Thank U very very much in advance,
Newsman.

How do get sheet music of music on a CD

I want the sheet music of Johnny Ferreira's "Forget About IT".
I've got the CD but can't locate the artist or even find
the publisher. Is there a software package that can
create sheet music given input from a CD?

There are a number of notation programs that will
convert a MIDI file to sheet music;

<a href="/smm/win95/NOTATION/">See Here</a>

And you can easily rip the CD to WAV format;

<a href="/smm/win95/CD_RIPPERS/">See Here</a>

But the messy part is WAV to MIDI -

Napster glitches!!??

I want to use some kind of spectrum analyzer to analyze my downloads from Napster for quality. For example, I want to know if a song I download has any glitches or skips in it rather than having to listen to all the songs all the way through before finding out. Does anyone know of any good programs? I assume a spectrum analyzer but there are so many I'm not sure which one would be best.
Thx

VS880-to-PC-to-cakewalk conversion, how to?

I'm looking for ideas on the best way to get audio data from my vs880 (or scsi zip drive) onto an ibm-compatible PC, then converted into something that can be imported into Cakewalk Pro Audio 9. Anyone been down this road before? Thanks.

VS880...

Hello,

I have a VS880 and a Macintosh with SCSI. It is possible somehow to send audio data down the SCSI chain but I can't find anything about it in the manual. I think it was a function that Roland took out of the OS after a certain review. I have the OS that is apparently still capable of it but generally have
no need to try.

If you have a Digital coaxial input on you PC then you could connection Digi out on the VS880 to Digi in on the PC. You would then have to transmit MTC in cakewalk at 30fps and send that donw the Midi chain to the VS, set the VS880 to 'External Sync'. This way you can start/stop the VS from cakewalk. You could then either play the all the tracks in stereo, or individually to rebuild the track in cakewalk. VS880's are excellent at syncing via MTC so long as you have the correct frame rate selected.

I don't have a digital in on my computer so when I need to do this I burn a CD on my Audio CD recorder and put the CD in the Macintosh and load that into the sequencer/editor maintaining the digital domain.

Cheers

Two Remixes of Sahota's "Paun Boliyaan", U Decide?

That's right : A listeners vote on BhangraHolics.
http://libsun.tees.ac.uk/~lst33

I've knocked up two quick sample remixes of the Sahota's - Paun Boliyaan extracted from the Album "Suniye".

Problem is deciding which one to use, so I want listeners to decide which mix will end up on the album. Please listen to them both, and let me know which one you prefer in terms of music style. You can place your comments on the BhangraHolics FORUM.
Please excuse the poor quality of the recordings, and let me know whatcha think about using the Vocoder(vocal fluctuations) effect on the vocals, does it work?

I'll announce the results in a week or so, and dub it the "Peoples Mix.

In addition, the usual updates includes this months new Techno Top 3 tunez.

What's the best way to set-up midi/audio sync ?
I was a PC running Cubase VST & Midi & a digital HD recorder. Is there a web site that gives you set-up help/pics ???

Also, why do I get such(un-useable) bad quailty recording throuth Mic input on my AWE 64 through Cubase when it's fine thought the same input/settings with wavelab.sound forge, cool edit etc..?

Re: audio & midi

Hello,

Running a HD recorder and a Midi sequencer is usually quite easy to set up. To check you have the correct settings and cancel out any Midi errors, connect the Midi out from the computer to the Midi in of the HD recorder directly. Although you don't say what HD recorder you are using, it should be set to external sync (MTC, although you may not need to set anything but the EXT sync) In the sequencer (I use Logic) VST (don't know it extensively) you want to find the Midi Options or/and Sync page. Set VST to send MTC (midi time code) at whatever frame rate your HD recorder is set to. I think the Roland VS range default to 30fps. This is probably all you need to do. Pressing play on VST should run the HD recorder.

It's that simple on my system, hope this helps...

Making my own aerobic music

Hi,

Just became aware of this site a few days ago. I was wondering if anyone can help me with a query about music software.

I am an aerobic fitness instructor who is interested in creating fitness music for my own classes. I'm currently searching for some music software which can perform the following functions, preferably in one package:

- Record sound from CD, tape deck or turntable to .wav file format
- Cut and paste .wav file sections to fit into 32 beat sections
- Time compression/expansion or pitch control
- Real-time graphic equalization capabilities to fade out percussion
- Cross fading capabilities
- Multi-tracks (about 10-20) for mixing
- Incorporate drum beat and other musical sound loops into mix
- Adding special effects such as echo, scratching, or skipping
- Convert .wav files to MP3 format and vice-versa

Does anyone have any recommendations on which types of software can effectively do all of the above? I've been suggested to consider ACID 2.0 or Wavelab, but am not sure whether either can do the job by itself. Will purchasing 2 or more types of software be necessary? Also, is there any freeware or shareware out there which will do the trick?

Your assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Deke

Re: Making my own aerobic music

I am not aware of a program that will do ALL of that in one package, but ACID can do most of that, and VEGAS can probably do even more for you.
As for a ripper (For CD's), you can get one on the software section of this page, VEGAS and ACID all have recording functions for your tapes and LP's.

I'll explain about getting and converting MP3's and wav.

If you have a CD, rip it to WAV, you can select that option in your ripping program, then you can edit it, as an MP3 can not be edited until converted to a wav file. if the song you wish to use is in MP3 format you can use Winamp, ( www.winamp.com ) it's free, and it's a really good MP3 player, which has an MP3 decompressor built in it can be used by going into the winamp options, and in the OUTPUT menu of winamp, select the "Nullsoft Disc Writer" and select the directory you wish it to store the wav file.
Note that when you play the song, you will not be able to hear it, and note also that once you finish decompressing the song(s) you should change back to the output you were using before, in the UPTPUT menu, or else you won't hear any music, and you'll suddenly lose great amounts of free hard disk space (about 10 megs per minute of music)
