Re: Compaq's Cequadrat "just!burn" program

You should use CD-r discs, not CD-rw discs, if you want CD Audio, as most cd players, like your stereo or car CD player will not read a CD-rw disc. use a regualr cd-r disc. Also, you usually do need to convert the MP3's to a wav file. I reccomend using Winamp ( www.winamp.com )
it's free, and it's also a really good MP3 player.
It has the option to convert MP3's to wav files.

: Help! we most recently got this program but im really clueless on how to work it! the instructions are confusing me. we have cd-rw's...is that the probelm, does it only take cd-r's? Also i heard you have to chage the mp3 into a .wav if you want it to work, if you could send me some via e-mail i would appreciate it ALOT! THanks!

MP3>WAV>??>CD?

Okay, so I have Napster and 3 ZipDisks full of MP3 files from it.
Now, how do I take these MP3's and put them on CD (hopefully for free, with freeware!!)?
I have heard I have to convert the MP3's to WAV, and I tried that with a song,
but the song became 31 meg rather than the 3-5 it was. Is there a way to avoid this?
Do you have to convert the WAV to CDA to burn onto a CD?
If so, does the CDA compress the file somewhat? 31 meg seems like a lot of room.
Thanks a lot...I'm totally new at this and couldn't find any articles or tutorials to satisfactorily answer
my q's in plain English. -Kati

Well the answer depends on what you want to do with
your MP3s once they are on a CD.

If you only want to be able to use your CD with a
computer then you can simply burn the MP3 files
directly to your CD allowing you to fit between
120 and 200 songs on one CD (depending of file size).

If you want to be able to play your CDs on a normal
CD player as well as a computer then you will need
to burn them as ordinary audio files which will take
up about 10 MB for every minute of stereo audio.

This will only let you fit about 64 minutes worth
of songs on a CD.

The following programs will burn MP3 files onto a
CD as normal audio:

Just try Tuareg, it's exactly what you need.
A drumcomputer and a bassline editor, integrated
into one package which also lets you mix and
do weird stuff with your loops and ultimately
make a complete song of it. It's freeware so
I suppose you could give it a try!

Beginner starting out - software wanted

I'm a total novice and I want to start making music on my pc. Please forgive my ignorance as I type my question.
I am hoping there is software available (preferably freeware) whereby I can create tracks from sampled instruments by dragging and dropping onto bars; save the track and play it back. I aim to create my own trance/ambient style music.
As it is probably obvious I'm no musician and can't read sheet music etc, can anyone recommend a suitable product please? Having found this website and trawled through the various webpages I'm getting more confused by the range of software out there - MIDI, sequencers, Cakewalk etc ... please can someone HELP! Thnx

Re: Beginner starting out - software wanted

..;;!!!(( "BUZZ" ))!!!;;..
Go to www.buzztrack.com and download the software! I personally think it's the best "free" music software out there, specially for beginers! I'm not some kind of buzz wiz or anything, but if you have any questions on how to get started, send um my way and I'll see if I can help. ;)

Many thnx Xeno. Went to the webpage and tried to D/L program as it looks ideal. Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug in the program - error message upon running it saying "prog has been corrupted" :o( I've reported it to BuzzTrack so hopefully I'll get to D/L it sometime soon when they've sorted it.

Anyway, thnx again for your post Xeno. I'll be in touch.
