Steinburg CD Writing Software

I have a program 'Clean Plus' for Burning CD's and it doesn't work with my burner-HP CD Writer Plus 9100 Series. I was wondering if anybody knew how to configure my system to read my burner in this program. It works fine for Adaptec software and Feurio, but the prog I REALLY Need doesn't run properly. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Try RealProducer out. I believe it can do what you require.

Music-notation program (freeware or shareware)

I have been searching for a program to help me do music on the computer but most are so expensive. Could someone please suggest a program (or two) that will help me with transposing music so I can play hymns with more than 2 sharps and 2 flats. At present I can only handle these. I read the melody alright and the chords that are overhead so if I bring down some hymns that are too high for our Sisters to sing - this would be marvelous! My appreciation for your comments. God bless you!

Re: Music-notation program (freeware or shareware)

Ok. I just found a good FREE notation program. its called Finale Notepad (its the worst of the Finale series) but it has great features. And compared to the $550 Software for Finale 2001 (expensive isn't it), this is a dream come true.
I just downloaded it myself and i LOVE it! i just dont know if it will have big bold text on the pages i print like it does with the Finale 2001 Demo version. you get this freeware at www.codamusic.com. it should be right on the first page when you open up. See ya! (anything for the church)

Check out the software by Didier and Oliver Guillion; Melody Assistant (shareware $18) and Harmony Assistant (shareware $78). They also have sheet music scanning add-on software - OMeR ($18).

software for making cool sounds

I have a keyboard linked to the computer and I have started to make sort of amateur compositions. However, I would like to use more interesting sounds than the keyboard sounds. I have cakewalk and that's the program I'm using, but I was wondering if anybody can give me advice what software I can use (with cakewalk if possible) to make cool sounds with my keyboard?
Thanx.

Re: software for making cool sounds

Do you have MIDI? If you do, then try buy Reaktor. Or, get some pedals!

Re: Having problems playing audio cd's on cd players

Try using a blank that reads for digital audio only.Burn at 44.1 16 bits.Make sure it's a wave file.Adaptec program is recommended as well.

I am having problems with my auto cd player

My cd player is not working in my car but the radio works. When ever I put a cd in my cd player it either says error-4 or error-d. Can you tell me what that means. I have a Jensen CD3010X, and the serial number is DH 107072672.

Macster unexpectedly quits

I have been trying to install Macster preview 5. I was sure to install the carbonlib as well. Every time I try a clean install, I delete all of the old Macster files, including the prefrences. However everytime I try to open Macster, I get a dialog box stating "Macster has unexpectedly quit due to error 1,011. I have beeen trying unsuccesfully to determine if it is an extension issue. Can anyone shed any light on this? ps thanks to Paul D for attempting to help me the first time I posted this with less information.

As with all underwater equipment - the key to making it waterproof is the o-ring. Housed systems typically have 1 major O-ring between the shell halves, and one or two at the port end. (2 more if you have a port extension) These are considered the 'user accessible' ones.

Each one of the controls on the housing and the flash bulkheads are also sealed with one or more o-rings, generally considered 'not user accessible.'

Good O-ring maintenance is the key to avoiding floods. Keep them in good shape and you should have little to worry about. These means keeping them lightly lubricated and free of any hair, lint, salt crystals, or other foreign debris that might prevent a good seal.

Use freshwater rinses religiously and you can show no fear when someone asks you that popular question of "Aren't you worried about a flood?" I personally think that the housings today are extremely reliable, and that a leak is caused either by user error or poor maintenance. Having all-risk insurance on your camera is not a bad idea either.

Hmmm...

Have you tried rebuilding the desktop? (hold option and command on bootup) sometimes I find that makes the difference. Do you have Norton Utils or Techtool etc...? that's worth a go as it could be a system issue related to that file. I have a list of Mac error codes but I can't find the error you listed so I can't tell yu what it is. Try downloading the program again from a different source as it may have an error. If you want to check the extensions side of things then go to extension manager and select 'OS BASE'. If it works after that then you have an extension error which may be a conflict or a corrupt extension.

If all else fails try Rapster which I prefer to Macster as it gives you more control and allows for looking through peoples filea before downloading. Link at bottom of page

which program can made high frequency rate sound effect?

which program can made high frequency rate sound effect? (like 30K hz sound which human ear can't hear)

Re: which program can made high frequency rate sound effect?

Hmmmm, what you want is a Tone generator but the thing is how are you going to play it? Expecting your home speakers to do it would be a little unlikely and most of the tone generators that you will find wont go that high anyway due to the fact that they are used a lot for audio work and it's worthless at the frequency. Lots of mixing desks give a 1khz tone for tuning the system but that's less common on smaller desks these days. What do you want it for?

I could send you a 15khz sine wave that has been transposed up by an octave but I doubt it would work as 44.1khz is only good for around 20,000k it maybe a waste of time. You really need something like a dog whistle that you could buy from a pet shop. I don't remember what frequency they are set at but this maybe your best route. Interesting request though!

CD-Burner Unit

I Have A HP CD Writer Plus 9100 Series, And My 'Get It On CD' Or 'Clean Plus' Won't Recognize It. I Have Downloaded The Updates 4 My CD Writer Plus + My Steinburg Software, And I Read The Manuals And Help Files Thoroughly. Any Feedback Would Be Appreciated...Thanx

Re: CD-Burner Unit

I presume that it's SCSI. If so, does your computer recognise it as a SCSI device? If it does then the chances are that your software has the problem. If the program that you burn from claims to support that 'exact' unit then it should be no problem. If you computer doesn't recognise it on the SCSI chain then it hasn't got a hope. Check the SCSI id and make sure the unit isn't Terminated unless it's the last device in the chain, check it's terminated if it is, this can make a lot of difference to SCSI problems.

From experience, it's worth checking the device with other burning software to make isolate the problem

Thanx 4 Answering Steve...
Its an IDE CD Burner, and It works fine with Adaptec software, but with Clean and Get It On CD it draws a blank. I would just use Adaptec 2 Record my music, but I Need a Program that is especially made for recording music to CD for Professional use. Any driver or other suggestions from you or anybody would be appreciated. (I dropped a line in on tech support(on both sides, but I know it's the software) so hopefully this will pan out soon, but sometimes they take forever to answer back an I figured this was faster. Thanx to any and every one who gives suggestions!)

VOCAL NORMALIZING

Im looking for anybody who knows about limiting vocal tracks. Jus give me some pointers or somethin. Thanx

Compression

Limiting can cause problem and therefore think about Compression of the vocals. Compression is a common vocal process even with the best of singers. It's largely to do with the fact that the dynamic range of a vocal (or something like a piano) is hard to listen too once amplified. It's generally requires control to smooth the whole thing out. It's worth noting that radio broadcasts are heavily compressed to the point that the original engineer may cringe at the loss of real energy from there mix. It has to be done to avoid blowing up peoples HiFi and some people actually like it that way.

The thing to think about it the dynamics of the 'other' instruments and try to fit the vocal with them. Try a 2:1 ratio at first and see if you can get away with it, don't necessarily go with the fastest attack rate. Sometimes around 40milliseconds is suitable and make sure that the release isn't too short as singers tailing off notes may become louder than they should. Go for a 4:1ratio if the singer isn't very good and more if they are terrible, they will thank you for it! Concentrate on the Threshold mostly after you have selected the ratio, attack and release and look carefully at any GR (gain reduction) and when it happens. This is a standard way of working out where to set the threshold.

The process of compression will give the impression that the EQ settings have changed and therefore you may have to reduce the bass frequencies or others, listen carefully to what the compression does to the sound as well as the dynamics. The rest is by the ear, 'don't' kill the vocal by over compression, there's a fine art to getting it right with the rest of the track. Get as close as you can. The final stages of mastering involve compression of the whole mix. (this is a general rule that doesn't necessarily apply, it's your choice) This is often brings the whole mix into perspective and will assist in the control of the vocals versus mix.

Lots of people sit there at the mixing desk constantly moving faders up and down, trying to get things to sound in the right place and get frustrated when they don't. Applying a compressor to the whole mix often brings a smile to the face as the problem was that, the dynamics of each instrument were ducking and diving behind and in front of each other, constantly suggesting that they need to be increased or decreased volume. If you have problems compressing the vocal then try doing the whole mix, you may find you have done enough to the vocal already!

Hope this helps

Steve...

Re: Compression

So with all that in mind, any tips on vocal compressing software?
