What is the best Music Editer? And Where can I get it?

I am trying to find a music editor for some songs to play at school. I need to cut out some words and I was wondering how I would go about doing that. Thanks

Do you know if it is exits that?.

Downloaded mp3cd121 and can't use

I downloaded mp3cd121 then set it up. But I can't access it anywhere. When I go into the file where it was installed and double click it, it just wants me to set it up again. I can't just open it and use it. Help!

try another

Is this a CD ripper then? If so why not try another if this one is problematic. www.sonicspot.com is the place to try and the best freeware prog for this I think is 'cdex'.

You could also try uninstalling/deleting then re-downloading mp3cd121 incase something has gone wrong somewhere.

Passport Music Time

I have tried to install Passport's Music Time notation program (I run windows 98) yet I just can't get it to work!
Does anyone know the email address for the company that took over Passport?
Please email me!

You don't tell us what the problem is, but let me try to guess.
If you go to Setup - MIDI Setup..
and change another mapper for Port A you will get
sound.
If you don't see any notes, you have to install some fonts.
Go to Windows Controlpanal-Fonts-Install new fonts.
Change directory to the one where you installed Music Time, and install
all four fonts. God Luck, please let me know how it goes.

Recording From Vinyl Not Working

After various trouble-shooting steps, I've come to the following problem: Even though I can hear the LP fine through the PC speakers, it doesn't seem to record ... or at a VERY LOW level. How come? I tried Adaptec's Spin Doctor and LP Recorder (shareware). It seems to record just fine, but when I stick the CD in a CD player OR when I try to listen to a WAV file on the PC ... nothing. (If you turn the volume up on the CD player you can barely hear it.) So, as you see, it's not the CD Recorder (HP External USB) and it's not the disks. What is it!!!??? Thanks very much.

Re: Recording From Vinyl Not Working

You will need a Pre-Amplifier between the LP player and your sound card. Try to connect the TAPE REC OUT from your Amplifier directlty to your sound card input.

Re: Recording From Vinyl Not Working

Sounds like you may not have the correct source selected on your mixer. Check your soundcard or Windows mixer, and make sure you have "record" selected as we;; as the source you are recording from i.e. CD, line in etc..

SBlive platinum - audio rec

I recently bought an SBLive platinum, but intially had problems with clicks during audio recording and playback. I solved this by deselecting the UDMA option (for the hard disk) of the Via Bus master driver. At first it was great, then I realised how much it slowed down my harddisk..even with just a couple of stereo tracks!(dropouts..low latency etc) How can I keep the 66mbs speed of the harddrive without the annoying audio clicks?..someone must have the same problem!

setup as follows:

AMD K6 400
5400 rpm seagate 8.4 gb UDMA
SB Live platinum
64 mgs Ram
Cakewalk PA9

p.s will a ram upgrade improve matters?

RAM it up (!)

Extra RAM ALWAYS improves matters and I'd say 96MB is the bare min for PC based recording. I had terrible clicking before I upgraded from 32MB to 96MB RAM - now no probs. However with 64 you should't have a lot of trouble so have you increased your audio buffers to max?? Cakewalk will allow you to do this somewhere maybe 'audio properties'? You could be set at around 50ms which would be fine with more RAM! So put it up to 500ms max then bring it down gradually to just before where the clicking occurs.

how to apply outboard fx onto a dry track using sound forge

im using sound forge and acid s/w to record my guitar part, but i want to use my outboard fx processor instead of their preset effects for all the reverb, delay etc...Problem is, i either have to lay the gtr track down WITH effects(thus commiting them), or record it 'dry'. If i record it dry, i cannot then go back and apply my outboard effects to that track!
Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks!!!
pat

Re: how to apply outboard fx onto a dry track using sound forge

Well..you can't, unless you route the signal, but I don't know of any cheap soundcards with fx in/outs. Software fx are usually not very good, but you can try steinberg's wavelab. It has a decent set of fx which can be added in realtime.

i am looking for a softhare that can record a internet radio on my imac have someone knew that

Amp Radio

I use Amp radio which has a record button on the transport bar that will stream what you are listening to onto your desktop in MP3 format. It's also a featured MP3 player and organiser. It's nice and simple and only costs $10 to register. Do it... you'll like it... There are hundreds of radio stations to listen too as well.

helpz

Hiya... just a basic question...

Is there any difference between soundcards (for e.g. sb16 and sb Live!!) while LISTENING for example Fruity Loops samples (those .syn .ds files) with computer. I know that when recording a good soundcard is needed... but im not talking 'bout that. Do those .syn files use wavetable ?? Or what causes the difference... doesnt wave files always sound the same?

Help a Newbie please.

First, this is what i got...

software:
Fruity Loops, hammerhead, acid Xpress (trial), Logic, CoolPro. and of course... demo version of rebirth
Hardware:
Sb Live, Alesis sr-16

Im about to start doing serious (earn money) dance music. I quess i should sell that alesis.. coz it really isnt that "techno". (been using it with my sax&stuff). I know how to use those programs and im highly experienced in every gategory of music. So basically, i quess i need a keyboard. I've been using mostly this Yamaha cs1x at my friend, which is rather nice... i like those arpeggios etc. and its cheap! So is there any, perhaps a better keyboard with same price range?!? And is it possible just to buy a very basic midi keyboard and load the samples from elsewhere?

thanks...

try fruity page

try this same question on the fruity page kosmo as there will probably be people better in the know there than here - http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/FruityLoops_win95/

my tip is this - a keyboard is good for two things only
1) simply to use as a signal input device for midi in which case just a cheap controller keyboard will do
2) as above but with an onboard set of sounds/sampler as you say. So maybe if this is what u need u should go for a keyboard with the specific onboard voices which you think would suit your traks.

Re: Help Capturing Streaming Audio

Interesting Topic, I have also been trying to find the
answer to capturing streams (Video and Audio), as a PC hardware engineer
I have surmised that the Servers somehow only allow the streamed files
to be Momemtarily Cached to RAM , but not written to the Hard Drive.
Bottom line is that you would have to have some sort of "RAM caching"
Program to Save all data as it streams through the system RAM, and before it reaches
the Program streaming the file. I am currently searching the net
for such a program

Have you found one? I am willing to look into writing a program but I need to know if there a spec on streaming. Can you help?

Question bout cakewalk pro audio 8 dealing with Midi Exporting.

hi, i have cakewalk pro audio 8.o for my pc. i was just wondering how i can export audio to wav when i use midi. i just bought a midi sound modulator and a midi keyboard, but everytime i try to export it says no audio has been selected.
is there a way to get around it or what can i do please? and if you can help please give me step by step on how to do it ok?

also, is there really any programs that convert midi to wav or mp3?

thanks alot

Re: Question bout cakewalk pro audio 8 dealing with Midi Exporti

When you record make sure you choose the "record all" or "what you hear"(sblive) option in your soundcard's mixer. The new audio track will then recording exactly what you hear through the speakers. Make sure you turn off all other channels to eliminate any unwanted noise.

How do i set up those recording options? where do i do it? n/m

thanks

Re: Question bout cakewalk pro audio 8 dealing with Midi Exporti

Just arm another track for stereo in and stereo out, hit record and voila, a wav file from a midi file.
