Re: installers for Finale 2000b?

: my friend made a copy of finale 2000b but forgot to give
: me any installation files. i don't know what else is necessary
: to run it, but could someone help me out?

All you need to do is pay the money instead of trying to steal it and you won't have any problems.

Audio Restoration software

What is some of the better audio restoration
programs out there? Specifically, ones that are oriented
towards analog recorded wave files (from a turntable)
freeware or shareware

Re: Audio Restoration software

Hi Nate,

You might also want to look into Sonic Foundry's (www.sonicfoundry.com) Noise Reduction plug-in. It's one of the best products for this type of task.

Best,
Scott

Hey who is this -steve- dude? I go away for a few days and I come back to find all these posts with some useful info but lots of links to sonicspot - the steve I know from round here never used to favour this site so much.

For those of you who haven't seen it take a look at sonicspot but like me you'll probably end up back here as they don't have as much software, they don't update as often, and they don't have cool dudes like me posting :)

Alf.

PS - is that really you steve or has someone else taken your name - would the real slim steve please stand up ?:)

I'M steve shady

OK, so you two work for hitsquad???

I get it;)

Well www.sonicspot.com's listings are far more userfriendly aren't they?. They contain vital info such as nature of programm (freeware/shareware etc), quality ratings, size of demo all clearly stated. Now on hitsquad you have to follow the program link for this info - a very time consuming and frustrating exercise what
with the size of some of your lists!! You guys should get together with the boss and talk over reformatting your lists and using more sectioning to reduce the size of individual listings. Yes you may update hitsquad everyday but now your lists are so long that the updates are just making longer more confusing listings!! Get a FAQ for the message board for starters. It's a great service but I will remain a 'sonic spotter' as you cleverly point out (!) until your site equals or better it and that appears a long way off fellas!

To answer your question Alf I am indeed the REAL steve. I have always been called 'steve' infact. You may be confusing me with 'Steve' who was indeed here before me. Note his use of a capital 'S' which I avoided for the sake of clarity. Also please note that I don't have closely cropped bottle blond hair OR sing like a donkey.

steve

PS - wha d'ya mean 'some' useful info?? Do u guys wanna start paying me now like you know you should be???;)

Re: I'M steve shady

: OK, so you two work for hitsquad???

I don't but I believe Geoff does - check out http://www.hitsquad.com/staff.shtml

: Well www.sonicspot.com's listings are far more.....

Well you like sonicspot and I like hitsquad - we better just leave it at that before this starts sounding like the old "my kind of music is better than your kind of music" argument.

That explains it - a diferent steve

I think I should also get paid then hitsquad could make me the official flame bait generator, I have excellent qualifications!:)

Re: Looking for good audio effect plugins...

We've got a large audio effects section, as well as one for plug-ins. The site is updated five times a week, ensuring that you all hear about the latest software releases.

So Steve, are you a Sonic Spotter? I'm just curious.

Cheers
Geoff

Are you the photographer who has been doing some work in Irag?

Cubase for Atari

I am looking for Cubase for an Atari Mega STe. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Advertise

I would put and ad in the local music rag under wanted. I bet there are tons of people that have it but don't need it anymore. Try Notator as well for the Atari, they are both very good....

Re: AAC

It's an audio compression format/technique invented by Karlheinz Brandenburg a couple of years ago (the same man behind most of MP3) and it basically gives you much better quality and smaller file sizes than MP3. There's lots of software around for encoding/decoding with AAC - here's a search engine list which includes some well known players like Liquid Audio but I don't think it's supported by Windows Media Player (unless it is in which case I'm just plain wrong :)

Hope this helps,
Alf.

I was unsuccessful in downloading Acid 2.0

I wasn't able to download your material (Acid 2.0). The computer either told me that my disks didn't have enough memory or that it couldn't find "aol.exe." What is that anyway? I was online (AOL) when I did it so I don't understand what the problem is. Please help.

Mp3 To Wav, Delphi

Where can I find a Delphi component which know to translate a mp3 into wav,
or to manipulate mp3-s in order to recorder new music over an older melody, like a karaoke show.

Dubbing

Its not exactly music but I don't know where to turn to so if anyone can help? I have a documentary video cd that has been overdubbed in another language. Is there any freeware software that I can use to remove the dubbed one so as to enable me to hear the original language?
Thank you.

Need help with Soundblaster PCI card

I have a Soundblaster 16 PCI card that, according to the Control Panel/Winamp/Media Player, is working properly.

The only problem is that there's no sound from the speakers. Any suggestions?!?! Thanks

Re: Need help with Soundblaster PCI card

That happened to a friend too, Did you check the connections. If Input and Output cables are connected right? Some people get confussed with this. Just to mention, I know someone who connect the cables to the modem card...

Good Luck

Real Audio convert to MIDI

Thank you.

Re: Real Audio convert to MIDI

: I want to know if I can convert Real Audio to MIDI format,

: :NO! You cannot convert ANY type of audio to MIDI, because... Look, i'm sorry my friend, but if you had any idea just how often this question has been asked.. You can't do it, if you want the ins and outs of why not, i'm sure Geoff (the guy who oversees this forum) can give you the lowdown.

putting new samples into registered PRO Fruityloops?

How does one go about putting samples---loaded off sites in zip files--into your FL Pro program? Any advice very much appreciated! Thanks!

Re: putting new samples into registered PRO Fruityloops?

not too sure you are sane!!!

it's not that difficult!!!

OK unzip them first OK? You do that atleast?!!!

Put them all in a file on your desktop. Then u have 2 ways I'd say to get them into FL - ready?

1) Open the FL folder where ever it is (program files probablly) and keep opening more folders inside until u find one called 'samples' or if not atleast one FULL of .wav samples. Not hard is it!!!!

2) when prog is open - click on sample box to open 'channel settings' pannel OK so far? no lost yet?!! Then click on the little file icon next to the sample name box OK? Got it yet???? Just open up a folder from there with samples in it and click on a sample to load up the track with it. You could put different samples eg bass/drums/syths in differently named folders ie 'synth folder'/ 'bass folder' and put these folders inside your main FL folder for easy access in the future.
