I am only new to this so perhaps a complete dunce, but..
I have a CD Burner and a CD Rom drive and i tried just copying a cd to a cd-r and then playing it in my cd player and it didnt work! I am confused as to why not. It copied it to .cda format so it cant be the format so I dont understand what the problem is..
Ultimatly I want to be able to make my own compilations from my CD's is this possible??

Depending on the o/s you are running, the type of burning software really doesn't matter. To be able to play a cd that you recorded the format must be wav. See, a computer program used to play audio files can play multiple formats: cda, wav, mpeg, avi etc... So what you may want to do if your software does not to it already is to obtain a program that will convert mp3 to wav and then burned the converted files to a disk and that should solve your problem. As far as the cda format i am honestly unsure if they will play on a regular player, I don't think they will. I hope this helps!

I have created a mix cd on a CD-R disk I made a song image on my hard drive and then transferred it to cd. I did this with 11 songs on the same CD but when I popped it into my CD player it would only bring up and play the first song, I tried it on my car CD my 2 Hi-Fi systems and they were all the same yet when I put it in my computer it would play all the tracks?.....Why? and more importantly can I fix the CD.

Hi
I use a rather old asus TX-based P233MMX PC
I have a scsi sub-system with an old Yamaha 4260 CD-RW burner attached and a Teac 32X CD-Rom
I use the WinOnCd 3.5 s/w that was shipped with the drive.
I create WAVs with Sonic Foundry SoundForge S/W
Ithen burn the WAVs to CD-R media.
Even ripping the CDAs off a CD as if I was making a custom CD then editing them with SoundForge before burning them works.
Reading the help from SoundForge indicates that sometimes, if the descriptive data attached to the WAV is either missing or present (depending on the application) then the result won't work.
I have a really ancient Phillips CD player, nearly 15 years old, and if my CDs work on THAT they will work anywhere.
Incidentally, I use SoundForge to compress the dynamics of the tracks so that ALL the music can be heard in the car!

she says she used a CD-R, not a cd - rw.... so why are you telling her not to use cd-rw since that obviously isnt the case?

I had a similar problem and it was solved by:-
1. Using only CDR disks that were deep blue in colour EG TDK brand. For some reason not all CD players will playback other colour disks - something to do with the laser beam reading the data on the disk.
2. Record all songs from the hard disk onto the CDR disk in one session.

I Just bought a Toshiba CD-r,CDRW,dvd device and it comes with a program called instantcd wizard and it works great. Just don't waste your time trying to put music onto a CDRW disc....it just will not work use cdr only.

I had the same problem and found that you can only use a CD-R disc to burn the CDA files on. Your home or car audio system will not read a CD-RW disc. When burning the files ensure you select the close session option after selecting the files to copy.

Its a song called Summertime by The Sundays. Its the first track on an album called static and silence

The artist sounds like the cowboy junkies, but i'm not real sure of that. Some of the words are lazy afternoon, and faded. It is not sweet jane and is a slow ong and has been featured in a recent comercial.

Yeah the name of that song is....ain't gonna walk in the shade no more.......the artist that sings it is ....ben vaughn.......i heard the song in a movie called ....wasted....good movie, good song.......i have searched all over the internet looking for this song and i can't find it...the best i can come up with is a place in europe that sells his cd...but i think that he is from the philly area.......hope this helps......let me know if you find a place i can get the song from
