Converting MIDI files to Wav

I am trying to find something to convert midi files to wave files so I can burn CD's. I downloaded the demo version of the Audio Compositor 4.1, but I cannot figure out how to use it and get the midi to recordable wav files. Is there something better or different? Is this what I need - how do I work it.

I can write rap music but cant get the beats. It would help with the demo if i could get free beats that i could twist and tweak in my own way.Any ideas?

Re: FOUND:looking for a free downloadable software to compose mu

Search for Music MasterWorks. It is free for
one month then a $20 registration fee. The
current version is 2.32 but search for only
the name because the engines only list the older
versions.

Re: looking for a free downloadable software to compose music vi

try www.anvilstudio.com I've been using it for years. The basic program is free, and there are extras you can pay for. The only drawback to a composer is it will not let you print sheet music on the free program, only with the upgrade. But it handles all time signatures and keys, allows for triplets (but not duplets), can create multiple tracks, and has a hundred different instrument sounds including a percussion track.

www.musicmasterworks.com
If you need to print music, I found 'Music Master Works' which gives a free 30 day trial, and a 20$ complete registration. Also has a 'voice to note' feature if you have a 'mic, but I haven't tried it yet

Re: looking for a free downloadable software to compose music vi

I misspelled the search engine Google in my last posting. Go there and type in the exact keywords "Visual Music" and "bagpipe". The first entry to come up will allow you to download the program, which includes a keyboard synthesizer and a scripting option, as well as 128 different instruments and effects.

Re: looking for a free downloadable software to compose music vi

Here's an excellent freeware program: Go to Googol and do an exact phrase search with keywords "Visual Music" and "bagpipe". The first site to come up will allow you to download the Visual music software.

Re: looking for a free downloadable software to compose music vi

This is the biggest web site in the world devoted to
exactly that.

Go to the main download area page at
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/" target="_top">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/</a> or to
ask a more specific question about the type of music
composition software you are looking for, then go to

RA to WAV Converter FOUND!!!!!

It's at ftp://ftp.softhouse.com.cn/download2/7799Ra2Wav2003demo.exe

Then to convert to MP3 just use one of the various WAV to MP3 converters! Great find! Search is finally over!

Re: RA to WAV Converter FOUND!!!!!

The problem with ra2wav is that the demo version is the only one currently available and it inserts a voice about every 10 seconds. There must have been legal action from Real Audio to all of the conversion software as I have not been able to find any that still do the conversion. As a work around I have been using Total Recorder - it records anything that goes to your sound board and saves it in a wav file. Then burn the wav to CD. Total Recorder can be downloaded at www.HighCriteria.com it costs about $12 dollars.

Re: Up loading Music~Web~Site

See this tutorial by Håkan 'Zap' Andersson:<a href="http://www.lysator.liu.se/~zap/tutorial/midi.html">Adding MIDI background music</a>

To transfer files from your computer to your web site (upload and download), download and install a FTP program
like <a href="http://www.ipswitch.com/">WS_FTP</a>.

Tape player to PC - connecting!!!

How do we connect a full size tape tape player / recorder into the PC's souncard? Do we need a special cable?
Many thanks

Re: Tape player to PC - connecting!!!

Just learned of this question. If you're still looking...

1) Y-adaptor: one 1/8 inch stereo plug to, two RCA (phono) jacks connected by a couple feet of cable. Usually sold as a patch cord used to connect a personal CD player to a home stereo. (Radio Shack)

2) Straight Adaptor: 1/8 inch stereo plug to, two RCA jacks. About three inches long overall, encased in hard plastic. Requires the use of a standard paired home stereo patch cord.

I recommend #1, I use a couple myself. The second isn't a great idea because it has an additional connection in the line which can be avoided. But both will work well and are under $5.

Hope I'm not too late!

Re: Tape player to PC - connecting!!!

What do u mean by 'full size'??

Ordinary stereo cable from tape out to line in of soundcard should do! What other options could there be??

steve

Re: Tape player to PC - connecting!!!

: What do u mean by 'full size'??

: Ordinary stereo cable from tape out to line in of soundcard should do! What other options could there be??

: steve
I wanted to exclude portable tape players. Stereo cables have two jacks and the sound card has....
this is what I am wondering about.

standard cable - stereo>mono jacks

Ahh you mean Robert the tape output is two mono plugs? red+white sockets? If so the answer is easy! The soundcard line in is a normal stereo jack which has three internal connectors. The mono plugs have four wires but take only three different signals. Therefore all u need is a cable with two mono jacks at one end and a mini stereo jack at the other! Standard cable - available everywhere.
hope this helps?

midi on old mac?

I've got an old Mac...really, really old... can anyone recomend MIDI software for System 7.5 and where to find it? I know it's out there, I've seen it done on older Macs than mine. Can anybody help?
Thanx.

Re: midi on old mac?

Mastertracks Pro is a good midi sequencing program for a variety of Macs-old and new. Check at gvox.com as they handle former Passport products.I think it's up to version 6 but you might need 5 to be more compatible with earlier systems. They have some demo's at that site also. Good Luck

Instrument sounds for Cakewalk

Do the instrument definitions stored with Cakewalk ( Home Studio 9 ) actually contain the sounds for those instruments or can you only access them with the specific hardware concerned?

If the sounds are not there then is there anyway of importing them so I can use them without buying each piece of equipment?

The answer depends on the type of sound card you are using. Which are you using?
