you are probbaly just missing the codec to play the video if it is an avi file go to www.divx.com and download the divX and Xvid codec's from there for free.

yes, "TMPGEnc" this program is free, but converting a videofile takes a lot of time

Hello. I have been trying to convert some avi files to mpeg to make VCDs, yet I am unable to convert them properly. I can make a file where he sound is heard, but no video. I've been using trying to use TMPGEnc and avi2vcd but neither seems to do it. I have been able to use TMPEnc before successfully. The avi2vcd told me to decompress the audio component. I did, still nothing. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Or suggest something? Thanks.

I also have a problem watching avi files. I need help converting an avi extension to an mpg or mpeg format. Can somone help.

plug your avi into the microwave oven for 3 minutes and it will come out in mpeg format

USING TMPGEnc, can anyone tell me why I can't resize the video bigger than 352x240??

I paid for my version.

ANSWER: Can't resize past 352x240 as this is the standard
size for VCD files. You will need to choose S-VCD or DVD to get bigger sizes.

There is a program called virtual dub and there is another one i know of called tmpgenc..just go to there site and download..The only problem i have is using it..i can use virtual dub cause i finally figured it out but the other one i cant use yet cause i have no idea how..There are no instructions..Try those and if you figure the second one out, let me know..k?

whats up? i m gonna give u the instructions on how to use tmpgenc... so, go to tmpgenc, open project wizard, for vcd choose ntsc or pal then click next. click on browse on the video file then
find the avi file open it then in video type choose non-interlace and in aspect ratio choose 4:3 525 line(ntsc 704x480) then click next, (check on source range only if it is a big movie, that wouldn't fit in one cd then set the movie to where
your gonna stat from....) if it is a file that would fit in one cd you dont have check on source range..anyway click next and next again, for out put file click on browse and choose the folder where u want the movie or the video to be converted in then click ok! after conversion is done close it,get ready to burn it in a cd with nero or any other burning software which has vcd or other video options!!!
and for svcd you do the same thing!
