If you want to view AVI files using REALPLAYER then check out the following homepage :

there you can download the necessary plug-in.

If you meant something else then sorry for missunderstanding.

Recording in Surround Sound

Does anyone know of a COST-EFFECTIVE way to record and create music using a standard soundblaster card and encoding it in Surround Sound for playback on a surround sound amp?

I appreciate that there are several hardware devices that are available to professional sound engineers, but are there any software programs that can simulate this effect cheaply?

basically, they sell a package that lets you make
DTS surround CD's that work in regular home systems.

they are the cheapest thing around I have ever heard of
for true surround. Unfortunately, it's about 400 bucks.

I'm waiting for someone to invent the freeware version.

Thanx for the info man. The MX51 looks like the stuff I need, but at current exchange rates and the value of the Aussie dollar against the greenback, it's going to cost A$1400, so I don't think I'll bother just yet!!!!!

mystery file type

Hi there - I'm trying to burn cd's of my friend's demo tape which she made while she was in Ireland recently. I have two cd burners - one on my mac, and one on my pc, and neither will read the file. the extension on it is .cda. Anyone know what software would've created it, and if I can get it translated into something I can read?? Muchas muchas gracias!! HN

.CDA is the file extension for an audio CD track. Insert any music CD into your PC, open Explorer and look in your CD drive where you should see a list of files like Track01, Track02, etc.

If you have a CD-ROM drive, this should read the .cda file and you can record that file from the CD with a <a href="/smm/cat/CD_RIPPERS/">CD Ripper</a>.

Rossinni wrote 6 nice "classical" Sonatas for violin, viola, cello, and bass. Sperger wrote a nice trio for violin, viola, and flute. Have you thought about one of the Mozart flute quartets (violin, viola, cello, and flute)? Vanhal (sometimes spelled Wanhal) and Leopold Gassman wrote nice trios for violin, viola, and double-bass.

Samplers, help me

Suppose I've written a MIDI score in Finale and imported it into a sequencer. I've loaded a software sampler like Gigastudio with samples from a CD. I have a measure in my score with two notes. I want to use a software sampler to make one of the notes a staccato violin and the other a legato violon. How do I do it? Do I click and drag, or do I have to enter the notes with a keyboard? Do I have to put the notes in separate tracks, since they require different samples?

First thing is to download a CD ripper.
The CD Ripper will take the audio off your Karaoke CDs and put it into a WAV file which you will be able to import into a Multi-Track recorder.
Once you have riped the audio import into your Multi-Track recorder then in another audio track in your multi-track record your daughters voice.
Then you can master it and burn it to CD.

Yes you can it's called bounce to disc. Once you have your tracks all mixed then bounce them to disc and this will combine them into one track which you open in one audio track.

I have just bought a cd writer and want to make back up copies of my pc games, I have nero and have ticked the boxes for Raw but it still wont copy, sometimes it reads them but it never seems to copy? is it the software? any one out there know the answer??????????

I'm looking for the best MiDi player that would come close.. or even better.. than Wingroove. Wingroove supports 128 instruments.. but has little bugs and such that make it less appealing. Any MiDi software out there that can do better than Wingroove? Thanks.

Try the Yamaha XG-Synthesizer S-YXG50 or S-YXG100. They sound quite well but cannot replace a good hw wavetable. If you own a AWE-card (AWE32 is enough) you should download the chaos-soundfont, it's state-of-art.

I want a solution to record political talking (3-4 hours of recording indexed by argument) very simply. And then convert it to Real audio format. Now someone record in analogic cassette all the convention and then i must to seek every point of trim, digitize sound in wave format and then convert in real. I seek a solution: Recording must be indexed (i have think about MINIDISC).... but then? Minidisc format can be recognized by pc? Can be mantaining indexing? Please help me... thank you! .Cda Files is a music + Graphics format for Karaoke. If you want to create a CD that will play on your stereo, you need to convert your MP3 files to .wav format. Then use an audio cd burning application such as adaptec to create the cd.

Delay on Audio - Cubasis VST

I cannot record any new audio tracks on Cubasis (guitar) without it delaying with other previously recorded guitar tracks. How do I synchronise these together? The same goes for MIDI and Audio they dont match timewise?
My PC is a 1Ghz Athlon 256 MB RAM + Soundblaster Live!

go to http://come.to/sblive and download the ASIO driver for SBLive.
What you are experiencing is latency, and to decrease it, you may need a better driver (hence ASIO). Better yet, get a real audio card... naw kidding.

I go for ACID also. Magix locked up my PC and would never run after install. Wasted $$$. Sonic Foundry makes stuff that works.

Personally, I go for ACID. I like the features, the interface and the fact that there are sites like <a href="http://www.acidplanet.com/">AcidPlanet</a>.

But bear in mind that what is good for you, ain't necessarily good for me.
