.rm to .mp3

Hi there
I've been trying to get tips on how to convert .rm to mp3 files. Can anyone help me?
Thanx in advance

Re: .rm to .mp3

This has been asked so many times and answered so many times, I'm willing to bet you haven't looked very far for an answer :) Anyway, you will need to convert the RM to WAV and then to MP3. Use a program like Silent Bob to record to WAV and then get an MP3 encoder to make the MP3.

for svq format

Sir....
I have a roland XP-50 Key-board.So i want some svq format music.

Need help finding the right software...

Hi,

I need help to find the right software for me. Currently I'm trying to learn piano, but learning to read notes is too boring. Actually I'm looking for a shortcut to learn a few songs quickly...

So I want a program (Windows 2000-compatible) where I can enter the notes (scores) and see which keys to hit on a drawn keyboard on the screen. Not just one note at a time, I want to be able to enter a complete song and then step through it, and see which chords/tones to hit on the keyboard...I would prefer shareware or freeware, but commersial products are of interest too...

Thanx a lot for your time and advice...

/Per Hultqvist

MP3 to WAVE, I know you're sick of it, but I need some help...

Okay, I've converted my MP3's to WAVE to burn them to cd. They're friggin huge files now.(30megs) How do I compress them without loosing cd quality? I tried taking them from 44hz to 22hz and it made them sound crappy. ????

any help is much appreciated.

Re: MP3 to WAVE, I know you're sick of it, but I need some help.

In case this isn't clear yet, the whole point of MP3 is that is compresses the files to make them much smaller than .wav. That is why you can only get about 15 wavs to a cd compared to 200 MP3. But wav is the only format that will work on a standard audio cd player. If you want to archive the music to play on your computer then just keep them as MP3s.

Re: MP3 to WAVE, I know you're sick of it, but I need some help.

The files will sound crappy if you go from 44 to 22. The fact is that the MP3s feature lossy compression, meaning that you will lose some sound quality from the original. Unfortunately, you won't be able to shrink the size of the WAVs. You will have to burn at 16-bit, 44hz if you want to make stereo-ready discs. If I were you I'd just buy more CD-Rs and burn away.

Re: MP3 to WAVE, I know you're sick of it, but I need some help.

Cheezus man, what do you want? You got the MP3's and you've found out what the size of the original wav. really is.

How much are the CD's in your neck of the woods? The price the rest of us get 'em for makes it a bargain, and you can get 20 or so of your uncompressed files on a CD.

You can only record to CD's at 16 bit/44.100, unless they've changed the standards.

Cheez, be happy you've got the files in the first place.

Looks like Barry got up on the wrong side of the bed today...

Listen Barry (if that is your real name), I don't know anything about WAVE files. I didn't know they would be so big, and I thought I had done something wrong, or wasn't doing something that I should have. Now, you can take your f'in attitude and shove it up your *bleep*. I swear there are assholes like you on every damn discussion board on the net. If it were up to me I'd have you all rounded up, put you on an island and nuke the hell of you. Thanks for the help jerk-off.

Re: Looks like Barry got up on the wrong side of the bed today..

Barry did answer your question. And now you want to nuke him and his ilk. Who is worse?

Yes, I'm the nuking type. I'd like to nuke you too. He didn't answer my question at all. He was just an ass.

WHO ATE YOUR BRAINS????

YOU SEE???? That's the problem... some of you
retards don't even learn when the answers are
spelled out for you personally. Sometimes I
wish people are forced to take IQ tests before
being allowed on the net. There's just a little
too many AOL dimwits out there.

...and I suppose you'd score well on this IQ test. Look, I just asked a question, the guy was an asshole. There's no reason for that.

If you want to burn them onto CD use 'Nero'. If you dont want to then I dont see the need. They will take up much more disk space.

help with cdr software

I am looking for a program that I've seen before I had a Cd burner, and I can't find it now. I'm looking for a program that captures live audio from the sound card or line in jack, and records it to CD as it plays, like analog cassette tapes. I am pretty sure programs like that exist, but I just can't find one. Any help would be appreciated.

A True Novice:Need Advice

I don't know anything about making music, but my roommates and I would really like to learn. I have been playing around with wav files on Cool Edit Pro 1.2. I wanted to know if someone could give me advice on the process of making music. From making the beat (ex. hip-hop beats) all the way to recording the lycrics on the track. Also, what computer software do we need to get started.
Thanks

Dave

Re: A True Novice:Need Advice

First you need samples, you can either download them or make them from an external source (turntable, synth,. Check what kind of inputs you soundcard has, even the worst pc probably has some kind of line in or mic jack. This is passable, but even a decent sound card like a sb live will make a big difference. You can also rip samples from CD's you have. download nero burning rom for this. Save all your samples as .wav files at the highest sampling rate your hard drive can stand and your programs can support. You can edit the samples for time, add effects, cut and paste etc. with any good editor, but I think sound forge really blows away everything else. Take your samples and load them into a sequencer like fruity loops and order them into patterns. You can also try making patterns with soft synths (a virtual instrument simulator, like playing a hammond b4 with your qwerty keyboard). Rubber Duck is a great bassline creation box. After you 've made your pattersns you need to create a cohesive beat. Acid 2.o is definetly the best thing out right now, especially if you're just getting started. You use acid like you would a mixing board. Here you combine the samples in common time and do a rough mix for volume. Now is the time to add effects (learn about compression from a faq file or something, this can be the key to good drums for hip-hop). Acid locks up the samples so you don't have to spend days syncing everything up, which used to be the hardest thing about computer music. Incidentally, where acid fails miserably is recording vocals. You COULD record vocals over your beats directly into acid, but it doesn't ever came out the right way. There are a million multi-track programs for recording dtraight to hard drive, most will work pretty well for your needs. ProTools free is free and super powerful, but you the learning curve is steep and it's buggy at times. Cubasis (Cubase's slightly impaired younger sibling) is simple and pretty cheap. Try a bunch until you hit one you find easy to master. Render your song in acid into a .wav, or import them track by track into seperate channels in your recording program of choice. Now record your vocals, instruments etc.. Into this program, mix them , add more effects (again compression on the vocals), render a .wav and burn cd's/

It's much better to know how to work a less powerful program inside out than to have bare bones knowledge of some behemoth with features you'll never use. Add two additional partitions to your hardive. On for music programs and one for samples and recording. defrag your hard drive often.

That's a pretty tall order there Dave, but try this, get Hammerhead Rhythm Station from www.threechords.com/hammerhead. This is a very simple, free, drum machine. After you create a beat chose the stream to disk option in Hammerhead, save this file, then you can open it in Cool Edit. Switch to the multitrack view in Cool Edit and Insert the beat you made and loop it from the track menu. Switch to track two and record vocals, add instruments, whatever, while listening to track 1. Hope that's enough to get you started.

Then .. when you've got your head around that, I'd give ACID a try .. a very versatile and easy to use software made for looping beats - even stretches loops to fit the tempo.. you can also record audio (eg. vocals) in Acid, plug a microphone into the mic socket of your computer, or better still through a wee mixing desk ... and bob's yer auntie's live in lover ..

fixing the jumps?

In some of my mp3s, there are short jumps that sound like a scartched cd or vinyl record. Is there any way I can get rid of them? I've tried noncook, but that doesn't do much. Thanks.

To edit MP3's, best bet is to convert them to Wave files www.recycler.com ... then cut, mute, etc. any dodgy bits (Cool Edit, Soundforge,..), then back to MP3 .. N-track studio does that for free ... www.fasoft.com

Cant get Roland 180 to work with SB

Hi

I wonder If you might be able to help me
Ive just bought myself a Roland PC-180A Keyboard (Midi Trigger)
and have spent ages trying to get rthe thing to work, but with no joy!
Im using a PC Running Windows ME and running it through an SB Live 1024 Soundcard. I am trying to get the thing to work in Cubase using some SF2 Soundfonts. I can get these soundfonts to work in cubase, by tapping on the piano scroller in Cubase (Using my PC's keyboard) but nothing happens when I tap on the Roland Keyboard.

I have followed all the instructions that came with the keyboard (selecting channel, etc), But am still getting no joy. I have the Midi out 5 pin din connecter going to the joystick socket on the back of my keyboard,.

The only thing that I am not sure about is all of the midi settings in Windows, SB Live and Cubase, there are about 5 options in each place and is getting a little confusing.

I would greatly appreciate any advice you might be able to give me.

Many thanks in advance

MP3 - Help!!!!!!!!

As a complete idiot when it comes to all things technical - I need some help.

Am buying a CD player for the car and the one I am looking at has MP3 facilities - do I need a CD writer to down load from the net or what? How do I do it?

Thanks

Re: MP3 - Help!!!!!!!!

Hi
First you'll need a CD Burner for your computer so you can burn your MP3s onto CD. If the CD player for your car can play MP3s then you'll be able to just play them with out having to convert them into WAV files.

Loss of Midisoft Music Software Company

Can anyone tell me what happened to Midisoft Software Company. Their midisoft.com leads to another company with no relationship to music composition.

I consider this company's software quality as excellent and have not see better to this date. I wonder if they were absorbed by another company? They do not respond to telephone calls.

Is there comparable software out there I should know about?
Thanks for your help in advance.
