CD-R and Text

I want make copies of my own audio cd's to use in my car CD Changer, but would like to add the CD title if not on original cd to the copy. Any help on how to do this would be appreciated. I use Roxio (Adaptec) EZ CD Creator

Re: CD-R and Text

You need a program which can convert the music files to CDA format. This allows you to add text and so forth that normal WAV files don't contain.

Printing Music

I'm looking for an easy program to print music that I have written I have a Yamaha Clavinova CVP69. After saving my music on a 3.5 disk I can't seem to find the right program to print it out. Everything seems too confusing.

If your saving your music as a midi file, any music notation program should be able to just load the midi file and print it out.

Incredible Wave compression?

well... a few minutes ago I downloaded this wave file from www.audiogalaxy.com. It is a guitar etude played by John Williams.

Well, the interesting thing is that is a wave file, 4:07 minutes long, it has great sound quality, but... it's size is only 956 kb! I tried to encode it to mp3 using MusicMatch, and it didn't recognized the file. I opened on Wavelab, and then I made the conversion to mp3, and the new file was about 1.4 Mb.

What is going on? Is a different kind of wave file or what? because is very small for what it contains... e-mail me at painkiller_r@yahoo.com and I'll send you a copy of the file, so you can see/hear it by yourself. Please, if you know what is going on with this, please, let me know!

My guess would be that it is an MP3 codec that the WAV file was created with and the reason you got a bigger file when you created an MP3 is because you used lower compression levels.

: : Or it may have been recorded with VBR; that is a Variable Bit Rate, which saves a helluva lotta space by only using high quality bitrates on the sections that require it, and using lower rates in sections of quiet or simple passages in the music. Yhere is also a format called SoundVQ ( .VQ extension which gives even greater compression than mp3.

Record music directly from web radio

Anyone seen any software that allows one to record a web radio program right off the web and then be able to come back and cut down the individual songs to separate mp3's. I'm new so it may already exist. Thanks,

a wonderful program that lets record from the internet or a f m tuner plugged into your computer
and not only can you splice songs...it records directly into converting to mp3 file format
good luck...you can probably search the link from
c net.com or z d net.com...or shareware...
I forgot where I got it from...it only cost about
12 dollars and comes from Canada...

Re: Record music directly from web radio

try the easiest way:
download streamripper as winamp-plugin -
http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/
all you need to do is push start.
best.

Re: Record music directly from web radio

Can't you just do this with standard audio editing software like wavelab, cool edit pro etc.
They should have enough shareware to do what you want to do for free.

Conversion Help!

Please Help!
I need to be able to convert the following:

wav2bmp, txt2avi, exe2midi.

thanks in advance!!!

Re: Conversion Help!

Wav to bmp you can do by obtaining a spectral image that is about 22000 pixels high...

txt2avi you can do with txt2bmp and then by combining all bitmaps into an avi

for exe2midi you would need a ripper.

PS. it would be helpfyl if someone could tell me how to create a spectral image from amplitudes of a wav

Thanks

You will need to provide some more information because you are describing incompatible file formats.
1. wav is an audio file and bmp is a graphic file
2. txt is a text file and avi is a movie file
3. exe is a program (or self extracting zip file or self extracting music) and midi is of course a midi file which contains no actual audio

DeComposer

I am looking for a software to obtain a wav file containing only a
saxophone sound starting from a wav file containing different
intruments : a sort of instrument (saxophone) filtering software.

I found on the web that DeComposer (by RePlay Technologies) can
do the job.

Is there someone who knows DeComposer ? Could you please tell
your opinion about it ?

Are there other software that can do the same job ? How their
performances compare each other ?

Thanks very much and regards. Giovanni Naso.

comp to minidisk

does anyone know if sony have made a cable and/or software which can be used to send song info from the computer to a minidisk recorder or the actual song?

Re: comp to minidisk

Some sound cards like the SB Live and Sonic Fury have a digital output which, with the right minidisc recorder, would allow digital copying. Otherwise, it's a line-out to line-in cable.

All you have to do is plug a lead going from your computer (speaker output) to your mini disc, line input. Load the song you want to rec into
windows media player or what ever you use to play your music on, press rec on the mini disc and press play on windows media player. Easy as that!!

putting my old colege lecture tapes on to CD

I am planning to record some of my lecture tapes to my hard drive, as 22k mono samples, I guess. That will keep the files small enouph to work with, as the tapes are 60 minutes per side, most have 4 sides to them.
My question becomes, is it possible to fit more than 74 minutes on a standard 650MB CDR? Since the wave files are going to be about 1/3 the size of a typical music wave, is it possible to fit more time on the CD?
(other than having a cd with just the waves, as that could only be played on a computer.)

TIA

Unfortunately it is not possible to fit more than 74 minutes of audio onto a CD if you want the CD to play in regular CD players.

There are basically two solutions to this:
1. Burn them to DVD instead as this can contain hours of audio
2. Compress the files using MP3 and burn them as data files which can only be used on a PC - you can get 2 to 1 lossless compression doing this.

Tstar multitrack software works on lower powered PC's !

you can download the trial from winsite.com.
You can run 28 tracks on a lower powered pentium like
a celeron. All it needs is directx and a stereo sound card.
Its only 20 dollars to buy and includes lots of
multitracking and editing features including fader automation.
It will even let you do sample layering for hip hop
or house etc.
