Re: Cool Edit Pro

: : Anyone know how to use Cool Edit Pro extremely well? If so, please reply to this message. I have a few questions. Thanks. Brian

: Post your questions here and we will see what we can do....

Just wondering who is extremely familiar with the filters of Cool Edit Pro. I can't seem to perfect the use. I am trying to raise the vocals on a track and I was given an explanation on how to do it but it just doesn't seem to work even though I have the low pass/high pass filter thing working out. It's basically not doing what I tell it to do so if anyone can help me figure how to do it, it will be most appreciated. I already have a track that is done(vocals are raised enough to hear only the vocals and a little music in the background). I downloaded that track and I'm trying to figure out how to do it to some other tracks I've chosen. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. Thanks. Brian

Re: Cool Edit Pro

Does it have a bandpass filter?

That filters out everything above and below a certain point. I have used it for remixing before. I think that's what you're trying to do. Center the bandpass filter on the vocal frequencies (1Hz - 3Hz) and adjust the Q (range) and the gain (volume)

Thanks. I'll try that out. (It's hard to get a reply from you :) Brian

Karoake creating

How to create a karoake from a full song(With words) and can you tell which software to use?

Re: Karoake creating

: How to create a karoake music from a full song(With words) and can you tell which software to use?

is there any free software?

Confused

Good morning i would like to know if i download my music cd`s to hard drive is there software that i can use to change them to mp3 files?. I am using windows M.E. Kindest Regards Bob Douglass

Yes there is!!!

hey bob, just letting you know that you want a program called an MP3 encoder.... i'm sure this site would have one, its just a prog that takes a raw .WAV file and converts it to a compressed MP3 file. There is a program called Music Match Jukebox, i have used that one before, and there are plenty others, ok, hope that helped.

PC Speakers to Stereo Receiver - Connecting

I want to connect computer speakers to my stereo receiver. The receiver doesn't have output plugs, it has 4 slots for bare speaker wires. Right positive, Right negative, Left positive and Left Positive. The input stereo mini-jack on the rear of the sub-woofer will require both Left and Right speaker input.

I have purchased a y-adapter with one stereo mini-plug on one end, and have stripped the wires on the two other ends.

On these, the outer cover conceals copper wiring and one red wire and one white wire. That's 3 wires. How do I hook these bare wires up to the back of the receiver to provide the input that the speakers require.

Or, can somebody tell me what the 3 wires (red, white and other)(black?) represents? Many thanks for your help.

Re: PC Speakers to Stereo Receiver - Connecting

First make sure that the computer speakers can handle the output from the receiver. Most computer speakers are powered ( have a power supply you plug into the wall ) and shouldn't be used in this way.. won't do much good except the lowest volume settings on the receiver in which case you might as well plug them directly into the computer. Unpowered computer speakers are generally really crappy and won't handle enough power to make it worthwhile hooking them up to a receiver.
Also, the speakers and receiver should match impedance... might be printed by the connectors otherwise the manual should mention it (?). It will work even if they don't match but the quality will suffer and you could eventually do damage... I haven't tried this)
If you still want to proceed..

The three wires are left right and ground. The ground will need to be run to be connected for both sides.

My educated guess is that the unshielded copper wire is the ground.
That makes the red and white wires the right and left( or left and right .. you'll have to experiment :)

Connect the red wire to the right-positive connector,
the white wire to the left-positive,
and the ground to both the left and right negative terminals.

I wouldn't try this with an expensive receiver... I'm not sure how they would like the shared ground.

then cross your fingers and turn it on.

You could try one side first if you want to try it out before completing all the wiring.

I'm sure you'd be a lot better off getting some bookshelf speakers for $20 or from some garage sale???

Good luck,
Justin

Karaoke

I am looking for a software than can eliminate the vocals from the song and convert the track into singalong Karaoke Track. Can anyone help?

looking for a specific software

Hi, I don't know if someone could help me in this one, I heard there's one software that's capable of reading wav files (or either MP3) and extract specific instruments out of it, for example, I could extract only the bass line into another file, or just voice, or just drums, if anyone knows name and/or location for download I would appreciate. Thank you

Copying Music from Computer Programs to Disk

I don't know how I can copy a program (like the weekly film music program at Film.com) from the computer so I can put it on a CD -- or maybe record it direct to CD. Can anyone advise me of the process (what software I need and how to do it). I'm totally disabled and need advice in this area. There is so much wonderful music on the computer, but I can only hear it once right now. Thank you for your help.

Logic can't see asio driver

Can someone help me please. I have a G3 Mac running 9.1. Logic Platinum 4.7 and I cannot get Logic to accept the ASIO driver. When I click on control panel within the asio thingy in the audio hardware section, nothing comes up. It just doesn't know it is there. I have created an ASIO folder with the latest driver in and nothing is happening. Please someone help.

What ASIO driver is it???

What ASIO driver are you using and more to the point, what Audio Card do you have???

I use a Korg1212 so I don't need to use the ASIO driver myself as the Korg is addressed directly from Logic on my G4...

Keep in touch

Steve...R

Re: I have the same problem.

I'm using an Echo GINA 20 card and I'm having the same problem with Logic not recognizing the Gina ASIO driver. Please help.

transposing loops to other keys with Fruity Loops

Is it possible to transpose the keys of the fruityloops "loops" in real time? In other words, if a bass loop is looping to a C7 chord, can I transpose the key of the loop so it will match the chords that I am playing...If it is possible, where and how do I do it? Thanks

Personal Copy 5.1c

Downloaded and installed Personal Copy Soundfont 5.1c.
1. Some kind of crapola is going on .... sporadically and
repeatedly it keeps blowing a "police whistle" which is
definitely not in the music. With this improvement
I am looking for a bomb to blow up my entire computer
and go back to the cave.
I Have 128 MB Memory with 300 Mhz processor and attempting
to play MIDI files. I have SB Live e800
I have increased "caching" to maximum of 63.50. Loaded window
only shows 8.64 allocated and it will not change.
Obviously this bonehead is doing something not right.

Soundfont Converter

I'm looking for a free application that will allow me to convert soundfonts to other formats. I am aware of Awave, Chicken Systems Translator, and bs-1, but last time I checked none were free..........

Re: Soundfont Converter

Have you ever used viena to export the samples.

Cubase Latency

Hi all you Cubase users! Been busy learning the 5.0/32 version which i just recently purchased(newbie}and i can't seem to add another track without that slap delay which they say is an latency issue.Does anyone out there know what i can do to illiminate it?Help!! Thanks for your time, copeland

Re: Cubase Latency

You can get a low latency soundcard like creamware luna 2, or monitor from the mixer. Also make sure the hardware buffer is at the lowest possible setting. If you use softsynths rme hammerfall, or the luna 2 is what you need, as their latence really isnt audible(1.5 ms)

Ahem....

As latency is a often mainly a hardware issue, there are few things you can do other than ensure you have the best computer and audiocard for the job. Some people have more problems than others, it's hit and miss.Midi interfaces can slow things down so make sure you are using something other than serial, (USB seems to do the job).

What you can do is use the track delay to delay the recorded track so that the monitoring stage is more inline with the audio coming into the computer. If you play a simple drum riff (midi) hitting one key exactly on each bar (of 4 bars) send the midi information out to a midi device that has it's audio outputs running into the computer. Record the audio and then line up the audio and midi tracks and see how late the audio is compared to the midi (get my drift??). When you have established your delay (in ms (milliseconds)) you can delay the recorded audio after recording by that amount and then you should hear the audio running into the computer at the same time that you can hear the monitored audio that is already recorded.

I might have over complicated the matter, just trying to help...!

Re: Ripping Mixed CD's

To rip them try Zlurp! (www.zlurp.com)

then use the track merge function in Adaptec CD creator to burn the tracks without the silences.

If you don't need beat syncing...

... you can get by with Multiquence.

If you need tempo-based beat syncing, try ProTools Free.
