Re: old school ghetto blasters

Hi y'all I am also looking for an old school ghetto blaster, with as many equalizers and vlinking lights as possible. And it's gotta have those big woofers with the protective bars over 'em. I have looked everywhere on the net I can't even find any good images, much less the actual models to purchase. So if anyone finds any for sale please let me know.

Re: old school ghetto blasters

Hey not sure if your still looking but Lasonic has a few that you can get through the internet. just do a search via "lasonic" and you will see a number of sites to make purchase from.. model number is TRC-975. Good luck

Help me please!

I downloaded a full cd mp3. How do I seperate the songs??

Re: Help me please!

: I downloaded a full cd mp3. How do I seperate the songs??

open it up in an mp3 supporting editor (would take a lot of memory), or convert it to .wav (take a lot of Mbytes) and then open that in an editor and cut and paste the different tracks, saving each into their own file.

censoring

I am looking for really good software to be used for censoring lyrics ripped from music cd's (I'm really sick of all the cursing!) if anyone knows of a program and or a web site please tell, thanks igor

Re: censoring

Whenever I've censored songs I used short sound effects for humor. (I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't gonna be funny. I also think censorship is the dirtiest word of all. But, I guess if you're just doing it for yourself, that's okay.)

To do this you probably want a multi-tracker. I use Pro Tools. Cakewalk, Cool Edit Pro, Cubase, and many others will work just as well.

First thing I tried was to select the section of the soundwave that had the word in it and try to EQ the vocals out. You can't fully get them out but you can decrease them.
Next, I lowered the volume on the track when the word is said and raised it back up after the word.
Finally, I placed a sound effect of my choice on another audio track and mixed it in until the word was inaudible.

It's kind of crude but hey, so is censorship.

Re: censoring

Just use any WAV or AIFF editor and edit out the cuss words yourself.
Without any help, you'll get the hang of it after about 20 minutes.
There's no right or wrong way to do it, but some ways are faster than others. The fastest way I know of censoring is to select the curse word or phrase and reverse it. Then save the file. Of course, anything that makes speech unintelligeable would work.

Re:

Censoring is the root of all evil in the music industry, it's the reason we have to listen to B. Spears on the pluckin' radio instead of descent music (true censorship isn't always about foul language). With that said here are some things you could do:
Use wavelab to isolate the words you need to camouflage, analyze the selection to find the needed frequencies & try some effects (like EQ band rejector or a vocoder)...

Amen Kozida..

It's true... censorship is railroading us into places we may not want to go. The internet is more regulated that it should be although it lives and breaths on it's own without governmental interference. That's why music and radio on the net is still so cool...

Keep the faith..

Strange request of the month award goes to...

Hehe... I doubt you will find anything that will censor the lyrics for you. The chances that software/hardware could reliably recognise swear words from random vocalists in a song is slim. Removing individual words from a song without removing the music as well is virtually impossible.

The simple answer is, don't by the CD's in the first place and don't bother ripping them to your computer if they annoy you. Music is supposed to be fun... ;0)

Re: censoring

If the song is in WAV format you can use sound recorder to edit the song how you would like. Of course you will need a mike and it isn't so easy of a task.

Sound Forge equivalent for Macs

Does anyone have a few recommendations of where to look for a Sound Forge/Soni Foundry type equivalent for a Mac? I am specifically looking for something to go along with digital video editing.

Thanks,
Paul

Re: Sound Forge equivalent for Macs

You'll find a collection of Mac audio editing software here.

Peak.... Spark..

Bias's Peak is the favourite I think and the Lite version comes with Final Cut Pro 2 for the Mac as the standard audio editor... There are some things that Peak misses out on and at first it looks featureless although I find that it does all the things required of audio editing extremely quickly.

Spark is another although this is more of a 2 track Fx and mastering program. The coding is no where near as good as peak so it's slow and demands more of your computer than I think it should...

Check them out...

Recording LPs

Using a LP record player, the sound recorded to hard drive is high treble, low bass. How do I record with bass boost and treble cut i.e. how do I equalixe ??

Re: Recording LPs

How have you connected the record deck to your PC? Are you connecting direct or through an amplifier. If you're connecting direct, then the reason you've got the bass/treble problem is because you're missing the RIAA pre-amplifier, which corrects the frequency modification done when the LP was recorded. It's best to connect the record deck to an amplifier and use the TAPE OUT to conect to the PC. Then everything should be okay.

Andy

Re: Recording LPs

Thanks Andy, I understand what you say. I already have too much stuff around the computer and was hoping that the problem could be cured using software.
Clive

Re: Recording LPs

In theory it's possible, but I've never seen anything. The other alternative is to buy a stand-alone RIAA pre-amp. These are fairly small and can be powered by a mains adapter. If you're handy with a soldering iron, they're not that difficult to make, and there are plenty of circut diagrams on the Net.

software for joining both songs together

Dear Sir,

Can you please help me what kind of software should I use when I record techno songs by which I want to joint both songs together without discontinue by the end of every songs. Please advise

Thank-you

Re: software for joining both songs together

If you're talking about ripping a techno mix CD which has trackmarks, but without the annoying silent pauses some software puts between tracks, try using Nero - its probably the best burning app i've seen.

Re: software for joining both songs together

Because the songs are likely to be in different keys and tempos, use ACID. It will sort those issues out for you.

Re:

You can use a great variety of applications (from Winamp to Wavelab), i.e. in wavelab you should use the audio montage feature. If you want to write a CD with no gaps you should see the options of your CD writer & check the abilities of your CD-R (some don't support this option)...

a new ra2wav question...again!

i'm aware of certain ra to wav cnvertors, but they all involve recording as opposed to converting (as far as i can tell).
are there any programs which aren't 'real time'? programs which convert realaudio to wav in a few seconds? Thanks,
Tom

Re: Won't happen

The amount of time in takes to convert Real Audio to WAV depends on the software your using and your computer. It won't happen in just seconds. These things do take time so be patient.

Compressed MP3 file???

What programm can I use to compress MP3 misic file? Help me, please...Is it possible?...

Re: Compressed MP3 file???

You're not going to be able to compress an MP3 file much without converting it to a lower bitrate. Try zipping an MP3 and you'll see what I mean. You could always convert the MP3 back to WAV and then re-encode it at a lower bitrate and in mono. That would save a bit of space. But the file itlsef might sound lousy.

Just use Cool Edit 2000 and see what happens.

Lisa

Easy!

There are several programs that enable you to compress MP3s further. I reccomend AltoMP3 maker. You can convert MP3s to WAV files and then convert them back into MP3s at lower bit rates. It saves alot of space. You can even fit Mp3s on a single 3 1/2 floppy disk.

Check the file area...

....on this website. There are tons of utilities to convert to and from Mp3.

how to add and read tabs of synthesizer

Dear friend
I want to connect my synthesizer with pc .I want to take keyboard inputs .Is it possible or i have
to make some interfave which will load/connect it ,so that when i press a key of synth. my pc should understand what i have pressed.
So that if i am playing a song it will generate notation(notation we will define such as c minor ,c sharp etc.).Please mail if you have any
idea regarding this .my id is singhbrajesh@hotmail.com

Re:

The most common midi sequencers do just that (among other things), but you need to have midi inputs & outputs (on both synth & PC) + a midi cable & a midi sequencer program...

Midi Latency... :(

I have a Korg Synth which I have hooked up via the `host` cable to my PC. In cubase/fruityloops etc I`m getting an annoying delay... any hints? BTW, ive tried the standard midi connections as opposed to `host` and my sound card is even worse!!

Soundcard problems

It's worth stating the soundcard and other hardware specs so people can pin point the problem. The likely hood is it's to do with the soundcard itself.

There is a lot of circuitry associated with sound within your computer, including the sound card, so the amount of time it takes a current to flow around to the point of being amplified creates a delay. Buy yourself a decent Audio card, spend as much as you can afford and the problem will be alleviated.

Karaoke Creator

I am looking for a program that will enable me to import a piece of music and remove the audio track. If you have a suggestion please email me privately. I don’t even know if this exists, I am very new to this stuff.

I think it's obvious this guy is after vocal removing software. Try YoGen if that's what you actually want to do.

It could be me, but...

...this doesn't actually make much sense. The "piece of music" is too confusing as it could be anything. If it were a piece of "audio music" then you would hardly want to remove the audio afterwards. If it were midi, then there wouldn't be any audio the same as if it were imported sheet music...

Please explain further and we'll try and help
