Burn Cassettes onto CD's

Any help on this is greatly appreciated -
I have a friend who has about sermons on about
1 or 2 cd's that another friend had burned on
cd from cassette -

1) Can you explain how I can burn from Cassette
onto cd's?

2) How can He get so much on 1 cd?

Any help is appreciated -

Sincerly,
Allan Danforth

Re: Burn Cassettes onto CD's

Simple! Use an audio editor like Cool Edit 2000 to record the tape. Just plug the tape player into the IN port of your soundcard. Hit play. Hit record on the editor. All should be fine.

Then you will end up with WAVs. Resample them at a low sample-rate and in mono. Burn the result to disc using a program like Nero. You should end up with a few hours a CD.

What program do I need to copy my tapes to cds?

Re: help

Find out here...

: What program do I need to copy my tapes to cds?

Re: help

You need either:

1. A program which will record the track and save it as a WAV file and
2. A program which will burn the WAV files onto CD

Alternatively, a program that does both.

(I use Cool Edit 96 to record and Easy CD Creator to burn the CD).

Dropping vocal tracks from mp3???

Dropping vocal tracks from mp3???

Is there any software that can take an mp3 and drop the vocal tracks off, so you end up with just instrumental?

Common question...

I don't blame people for not reading down the list of answers to find the answer to THE most popular question on this forum (as I do it myself sometimes..!) although I think that's what you should do. I can't remember how many times this has been answered on this very page. Go take a look... it can't be done..

Steve...R

Re: Dropping vocal tracks from mp3???

As I've pointed out several times already, it is impossible to remove the vocal part of an MP3 or any other stereo track, since the vocal part has been mixed in with the instruments.

Any attempt to remove the vocals using filters will remove any instruement which plays in the same range. Any attempt to remove the vocals by stereo position will also remove any instrument in the same area.

The only way vocals can be removed completely is from the original multi-track recording made in the studio.

Andy

Re: Dropping vocal tracks from mp3???

I am aware that this is not possible, however, do you know of any sites which specialize in vocal-track-only recordings. For instance, Mariah Carey has a vocal track only recording of "Someday" which she released on CD...these types of recordings are ideal for remixes. I am looking for any NEW ARTIST vocal-track-only recordings.

Help

I need information on how to record my vinyl LP's and casett tapes to my computer to make CD's of them. I don't know the computer jargon to go looking on the net.please help

Re: Help

Here's the basics.

For LP's:

First, you need to connect the record deck to an amplifier. Connect the TAPE OUT
of the amplifer to the LINE IN of your sound card (if your amp does't have one, you
can use the headphone socket instead).

Record each song using something like Cool Edit (have a look in the music software
section here for other programs that do the same thing) and save them in WAV format.

Once you have all the songs as WAV files, use something like Nero or Easy CD Creator
to burn the tracks onto a CD.

As for tapes, just connect the tape player to the LINE IN of your sound card and follow
the same process.

If you need any more help, let me know.

Re: how to play MP3 in MP3 player

Are you trying to make a cd of your mp3s to listen in a regular cd player?
If so, in your cd recording application you need to choose the audio cd and not the data cd template.
Most software will convert mp3 into regular audio cd format. BUT not all mp3s work: they have to be in 44.1 khz sampling rate.
Which cd burning software are you using?

TMPGEnc asf converter, best one out there and it's free.

P2P files

Is there a way to convert p2p music files into something that can be used to allow putting the music on a CD, and be able to play in a CD player?

Re: P2P files

I assume the files you have are in MP3 or WAV format. Try MP3 CD Maker or Nero.

Lisa

: Is there a way to convert p2p music files into something that can be used to allow putting the music on a CD, and be able to play in a CD player?

Huh???

I could be wrong but, I thought P2P was pier to pier and refered to a file sharing server service like Gnutella. If this is the case then the files that you download from other users should be in their relevent form, .zip/.sit/.mp3/.wav etc etc....

Correct me if i'm wrong

Re: Huh???

Isn't a pier one of those things that sticks out into the sea???

That's something to 'peer' at!!

Freeware for Audio Theater

I wonder if I would find any freeware to help me create audio theater. I have some skits in mind, something funky, dramatic, with sounds effects and music. I would like to create on my PC with microphone, wav files, CD excerpts, etc., then burn a CD. Any ideas on a program that would help me do all this?

Re: Freeware for Audio Theater

Goldwave is a decent audio editor/recorder. To layer your tracks, DDClip has a freeware 4-track version. There would be other programs, but go look for em.

LP-recording

Hello, does anybody know a true free-ware program to record LP's to WAV-files, and maybe also to reduce noise (de-scratch etc)??? I've been searching for some time, but all so-called freeware programs are "limited". I have only a few LP's I want to record, and therefore don't need a full fledged luxury program. Any hints or directions are much appreciated!

Re: LP-recording

I've used this program both with tapes as well as Lps. It's not hard to use and seems to work well. Best of all it's free. Just go the link.(www.dBpowerAMP.com) There's lots of free downloadable stuff on the website (formerly Shuffler Converter). It's also a good source of practical information regarding computer music, mp3s, codecs, etc., etc., etc.

This is a popular one at the moment...

There are lots of references to this down the forum so do a search for LP on the forum page (browser text search) and you will find.

One thing to note though is all you really need is something that will record the audio input to your computer (soundcard). The other thing is, you CANNOT plug a record player directly into a soundcard as the two are incompatible. The record player needs to be line levelled which is the job of a seperate Recordplayer pre-amp (available seperately) or by plugging the record player into a standard hi-fi amp and then taking a line out from one of the tape outputs on the amp, and plugging that into the computers audio input..

Re: LP-recording

I hate to disappoint you all, but there isn't any free software that will do the job satisfactorily. DePopper, forget it, Easy CD Creator's and Nero's filters are a joke, I'm afraid that you need Cool Edit Pro to do a decent job, that is, not only does it remove pops, scratches, tape hiss, man, the product still sounds like the original - ALL the others warp the sound, it can do everything cept hang out your washing! I use Easy CD Creator (Spin Doctor) to record the LP (have lead from input on Soundblaster Live! to stereo amp Tape record etc, you'll work that out easy - but I'm afraid that after a year and half of trying virtually everything (don't confuse Cool Edit Pro with Cool Edit 2000) and only Cool Edit Pro does the job properly - I recorded 5 LP's for a friend, charged him $100 and he's wrapt!

Re: LP-recording

Question: You mention using Spin Doctor to record from the Line Input of a sound card, I cannot get ECDC 5 to see the analog source on the line input. It acts like that source is being used by another application. No other sound cards are installed and no other apps are running, other than the operating system - XP Home. The Line In volume is turned up and mute is off. The LP's will play through the system but when I select "Preview" in Spin Doctor, there is no source input.Have emailed Roxio but have had no reply. Any thoughts?
