Re: burnt data cd reads as audio cd....

Anyone know how I can burn data CDs on my Pioneer PDR 309 audio deck? There must be a way to fool it into thinking it's an audio disc.

Chris

Re: burnt data cd reads as audio cd....

What type of files did you burn onto it and what exactly are you trying to do?

speaker for audio editing

what speaker can I use for audio editing / mixing,so i can hear the sound like a real song

Re: speaker for audio editing

The general way to look at monitoring is that properly designed studio monitors are made to have a' flat frequency response'. This can be in full range monitoring or small studio designed monitors. Monitor performance also depends on the space you are using them in so acoustics are paramount. Hifi monitoring is always adjusted to provide it's own unique sound and ignores that studio ethic of having a flat response monitoring system. In every studio I have ever been, they have had a set of nearfield monitors like the Yamaha NS10's purely for the fact that they want to 'reference' what people at home might be using. In a way, this suggests that people will be 'okay' with a set of NS10's. This is true to an extent but anyone that has mixed with a BBC Rogers spec monitoring system will tell you that NS10's are there as an assistant and not a solution.

On the whole, people can mix well with nearfield monitors although they often lack that full range performance that will demand you get the most clarity out of the studio. Look at tannoy or rogers monitoring systems. They can be had cheap if you are prepared to put up with some possibly older speaker systems. Don't forget though that the what you hear in a major monitoring system can mysteriously make it's way to the final result. Mix with a mediocre system and that's the sound that you will always get... (unless your too clever that is...'0)

studio monitors?

well there are several industry standards but the answer will have a lot to do with the size/acoustics of your listening room and the style of music u want to mix. best to get a magazine like 'sound on sound' or 'future music' or a hi fi magazine for reviews/tips etc.

there are 2 classes of speaker - nearfields and er, the others which are really big. there is a particular studio standard nearfiled made by Yamaha - NS10's.

Beginner needs help

I have a guitar, I have Pro Tools (I'm on a Mac). I also have a Pioneer stereo amplifier and an old Teac 4 channel audio mixer with meter bridge. Is this adequate for getting sound from my guitar into my cpu or do I need some other piece of equipment? Also, is there a very basic primer available describing in simple terms how to get sound (from my guitar, voice, keyboard, etc.) into my cpu? This seems to be one of the hardest and yet most basic questions to get answered. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Beginner needs help

: Hi - I use an MT 400 yamaha 4 track - it allows me to plugguitars - keyboards - bass and drum machine into the computer. I use the NTrack recording studio - works well have completed 3 CD's using this method - All the best with your work

Re: Beginner needs help

You'll propably need a cabinet speaker emulator, to make sure your guitar sounds right (Impedance issues result in buzzing noises when using clean & distorted guitar effect presets -a guitar multi-effect rack is also recommended). If you have Pro tools but no DIGI soundcard, consider buying a pro soundcard to record (& play) at higher quality, with less latency (crucial if you plan to use real time effects while recording)...

Warez and the decline of civilization, the best url ever!!!!!

Civilization is something that occours between ice age's. We appear to be on the upside now allowing us to buy, or share/steal software.
I am merely posting this to let you guys know who ask for warez you guys are really dim witted. Everything can be found with a search engine, and if not that a peer to peer network.
Most of you guys asking for "smack my meat deejay 2.5" are wankers anyways, I suppose paying $50 for software is too much if you have very little talent. I will say this once: USE A SEARCH ENGINE, if that doesnt work USE GNUTELLA.

Hey Robert would you mind posting this message every five minutes?

new drum sound?

what is the best software to create new drum sounds, not loops, just the sound of every single piece of a drumkit? i want to edit them in fruity loops and hammerhead...

thanks for any help

Re: Samples

Maybe you want a sample cd of drum sounds?????
There's a ton of samples online too, synthzone.com has a list of all the sites that offer this stuff, quite a few. If you have any tweaky efx plug ins, like grm tools, or quadrafuzz and compression and eq then the world is yours.

How to change interpretation of midi with wav

I have a midi-file with piano music and wav-files with the same music but played by different pianists. How can I change the interpretation of the midi-file, so that it sounds like played by a specific pianist?
This is a wav-mid conversion problem, but much much easier, because I nearly have the solution, just the loudness, tempo, etc. has to be adjusted.

Thanks in advance

Sebastian

Re: How to change interpretation of midi with wav

You can edit specific parts of the midi file and alter playing style, tempo, or volumes with cubase (or other midi sequencers)...

Re: How to change interpretation of midi with wav

Hmmm,
This is unique. Id say start taking piano lessons:-)...or start writing some code.

If you figure how to do it I'd like to request the Rachmaninoff template.

This Forum

I agree with Steve...R that this is becoming too much of a Warez forum BUT the only way to combat that is to have more intelligent post by more people. For every Kozida,Lisa,or Steve...R there are thousands of lamers. The sheer numbers will overwhelm you. It's impossible to educate that many people,so, I suggest we crowd out all the stupid messages with intelligence. We need more people like Steve...R and really just more good questions but I do not support any kind of censoring. I like the feel of the open forum, filling the page up whining about warez request is as annoying as warez request. IT's POINTLESS. For every person you educate or scare there's a 1000 more to take their place! How do we attract more smart people? By being not just smart BUT wise.

Sonar from cakewake

Anyone ever download a demo of Cakewalk's Sonar?

Re: Sonar from cakewake

: Anyone ever download a demo of Cakewalk's Sonar?

yes

Re: Sonar from cakewake

yeah i'm sure i did. i found it a bit too bitty as a sequencer esp when compared to the simple interface of cubase. the cakewalk ads make it look totally great but it's not unique as sequencers go and doesn't take vst instruments without an adaptor.

about microphone

Sir I've little probblem.and you can solve my probblem.I've used meny mics with my sblive sound card and with cakewake but result is not good voice result. so plz teel me which kind of mic i should use..............

Re: Sonar from cakewake

Hey Jon: What do you mean the sequencer is a bit too bitty? It supports unlimited number of tracks and most of the controls are available on the main page. I think Sonar is a great program. Could you be more specific. Regards-CG

bitty!

hi CG,

>and most of the controls are available on the >main page

this is basically what i mean. the sonar interface has #too# much going on and it's all going on a too small a res. not a comment about facilities but one on useability - in my eyes. I'm sure it's great for loads of peeps but i think moving between comfortably viewable windows is a better method of working than cramming everything on one main page - unless u on a 26inch monitor. I'm on 17inch - above average i think - and i was squinting at sonar!

Sound card not working in win98se

I have a Opti Mad16 Pro sound card and it worked fine in windows 3.1 when up grade to win98se it stoped working the CD-rom music works but not event sounds or others. What do I need to do to fix it. I use recording session software that came with the card.
thanks Percy

Re: Sound card not working in win98se

it sounds like (pardon the pun) the 98 install may have overwritten some of your soundcard drivers. try reinstalling them from the cd/floppy. if u no have check the card manufacturers web site for the latest driver updates - which u should install anyway for best performance. you may also want to reinstall any music software which isn't working

Re: Sound card not working in win98se

I have a MAD16 (Sound16) which I used with Opti drivers with Windows 3.1.
With W98SE, I left-click on the .INF file
and select the install option.
Windows then rewrites the the file and saves it on the disk somewhere, sometimes C:\Temp, Windows\Temp or the files directory.
The particular set of drivers I use (there are many) will run the wave portion but not the midi
portion. The problem is the card emulates a Sound Blaster and Windows expects only one set of parameters while the card uses both, the emulation set and the hardware set.
You might try studying .INF file construction or running the card out of the emulation mode when only one set of parameters will be neccessary.
Im still looking for a satisfactory solution.
One rule, with older systems, use only mainstream equipment for that or any other period of time.

Corrupted/lost DLL files for 'old' Encore

Does anyone know where/how I can get the PTHUNK*.dll
files I need for Encore? Have tried to get into TOPFILE.COM but with no luck. ROTTER.COM has disappeared, too.

TRANSWAVES

Dose any one know of any good software for converting wave files into transwaves?. I downloaded transilon, which dose a pretty good job, but it's fairly limited as far as the type of sounds you can create. I've heard waveboy has a good library, but I want to make my own transwaves. There is something on there sight that says in order to make a good transwave you need a it has to be processed in a digital phase-o-tronic wave-smashing machine. Dose any one know what this is? I also once came across some transwaves that had been made on a computer with SMP. Dose anyone know what SMP is. Thanx

wave to mp3!

Is there any way to convert a wave file to an mp3 file. I know you can convert mp3 to wave, but can you do some sort of reverse conversion?

Re: wave to mp3!

There are several hundred programs which will do WAV to MP3, MP3 to WAV and every other conversion you could think of. Have a look in the software section.

Re: mmjb.exe

Here's watcha do. Go to Yahoo. Type mmjb.exe into the search engine. Up come several hundred links which not only tell you what the problem is, but how to solve it.

Try http://www.guitarhobby-robinson.de/Going_ons/Helpful_Hints/helpful_hints.html for starters.

It's that easy (or mabe it isn't. Maybe I'm fat to intelligent, what with a brain the size of a planet.)
