.... it maybe worth contacting the band themselves. They are human like us and are often flattered if people offer to remix something they have done. The question of royalties would have to be covered but not with everyone...

My friend is on his second album at the moment and has attracted the attention of some musicians in L.A. who have played over some of his existing songs. It turns out that he has been approached by someone from "The Doors" to make a tune and do a bit of remixing. Well known bands aren't that defensive most of the time and are worth a contact. Find their agent or record company and get in contact...

compare Mp3PRO and VQF

soundforge recording problems!

I am lookin to record a mix cd....To do this I need to record an audio file, using soundforge, so I can then convert this to mp3 and then write onto cd.
However....I am currently unable to get a recording level through soundforge I have connected my decks to my computer (aux out - line in) and my computer to my hi fi (line out - aux in). If anyone has any ideas plz plz plz contact me, I will be v.grateful...cheers!

Try: Start/Settings/Control panel/Multimedia.
In 'recording' check to see if you have the right boxes ticked. Probably 'line in' or something.

If your using a sound blaster, click on the little red star above the faders(cant remember which one) in the mixer. You'll find you have to activate something in there. I'm doing this from memory hope it helps.

splitting whole cd's recorded as mp3 into individual tracks

winoncd will split tracks but it will not save as mp3 on to burn as audio

If you want to record a CD as playable audio, the last thing you want to do is mess up the quality by converting them to Mp3 first. A true audio CD that is playable in a domestic CD player has to be uncompressed to work although there are some CD players that can play Mp3's although they are few and far between.

If you already have the CD that is one long Mp3 track then you will need to open it in an audio editor (lots of memory I hope..!) and then manually split and save into it's component tracks. Most decent audio editors will save the file in the same compression format as it loaded it in so there should be now problem there, Other than that, I found your message a little confusing.. hope I was of some help...

There are some programs which claim to be able to remove voacls from songs, but they can only manage it on fairly simple tracks (i.e. very few instruments and a centre vocal). Otherwise, they remove a lot of other stuff at the same time.

If you wan't to remove vocals, leaving everything else unaffected, then it's impossible.

Spinner Radio and .ra files

Anybody out there have any idea how Spinner works?

The "Real" logo at the bottom of the player leads me to assume that it streams .ra files, but if so, is it possible to find out the address that it's streaming them from?

On the other hand, the "Receiving Data" message that appears between songs leads me to think that the files are being stored somewhere on my system. If this is the case, is it possible to retrieve them and play them with Real Player?

Any help would be appreciated.

If i were you I'd avoid both the NextMusic site (this site is much better) and any beta software. I'd go <a href="http://www.musicmatch.com/home/">here</a> and get the latest official version as well as email the guys who wrote the software and ask them what carbon lib is.

Fruity (VSTi) wrapper problem

hi everybody!
i'd like to use some VSTi instruments in Fruity Loops
but the wrapper doesn't see any files in the plugins
dir. Even those which ar shipped originally with FL.
How can i use them?

u mustn't have the VSTis in the right folder. If u click Channels/Add One u should see all your VSTis there - no need to open the wrapper 1st.

well, i don't see there anything but standard plugins which were originally with FL (wasp,3osc,etc.)

put your plugins in the plugins/vst folder in fruity then change the folder properties so you can view hidden and system files.Then ,in fruity, choose channels/add one/vst wrapper and from the wrapper window click the top left corner and choose select.check the box next to your plugin and it will appear in the main interface menu in future.-need any more help(where to get plug ins et)e-mail me mailto:housedokta@lineone.net

The name of the song is Nutbush City Limits, it is on the Live Bullet CD

Internal Midi Timing Instability in Cubase

I have seen nothing about this anywhere and now I'm desperate.
I have Cubase VST 500mhz Pentium III, fast HD, 200MB, Terratec soundcard EWX24/96 etc, and I still can't get midi synched.
The timing is fine triggering external instruments, even triggering internal VST instuments - it's only when I try to use a plugin called MIDIGATE or the Arpegiator module in VST that it all goes to pot, the timing just is not right and I've tried everything - I'd really like to use MIDIGATE as it's a fantastic plugin - see if you have the same problem you can download it from this very site.

Try Cubase.net forum. excellent.
