How to convert Mastertrax 6.0 to Performer?

Hi! Can anyone tell me how to convert Mastertrax 6.0
to Digital Performer? I tried using Performer's file
conversion, but it gave me a "can't do it" message.
Guess I should have saved the files as midi...I no
longer have access to Mastertrax, the program was
removed from the computers at school. Thanx.

The only way I can think of is to do what you yourself suggested - and that is convert them into midi files on Mastertracks.

Beginner mixing question

Is it possible to mix two sound sources of a Mac? For example, record the mic mixed with the internal CD at once? With recording software I have tried so far, you have to choose one recording source.

I think you'll have to use an external mixing device to record the product, and record from it, PC or Mac!

I don't have Mac experience, but I guess the principles are the same - you need to extract the CD song to an Aiff file .. there must be loads of software on this site, then import this file into any studio type thing and record your vocals over the top ... geddit? good!

Know of good drum machine software?

I'm looking for something free ideally (or atleast cheap) that will allow me to import wave samples and export as a wave file as well. Doesn't have to be too sophisticated either...

I tried leaf drums and hammerhead, but neither will let me import wav's. And I've been trying to get hotstepper but can't get it to download.

Any advice?? Thanks...

there was also prety good hammerhead clone fo dos
called moron sound studio and i guess it allowed wavs ...

You know the plastic moulded chairs that schools have with the rough patterned surface? Well experimentations during boring classes scraping a ruler up the back of one of those always made me nauseous. mAybe you could create the right frequency to make a speaker vibrate the same way.

OK here's how you do it. First turn on your radio, next set to an FM[stands for frequency modulation] station. Finally sample some of the sounds coming out using Vomit Wave a Microsoft product. Loop these sounds and listen. Make sure toilet seat is up.

well, my suggestion won't be as creative as
others :)
for frequency generating u can use any program -
for example cool edit ...
start experimenting with the waves and i'm sure u'll notice when u'll find the right one :)

but seriously: i guess u'll be disappointed -
informations about any "special" freqz causing
vomiting,shitting,ejaculating,hypnotysing,whatever-doing are legends ...
there's no such universal wave ...

but maybe u'll find one for u?

Nuendo vs Cubase

Cubase intended for recording while nuendo for mixing down. However both do a very similar job and the extra expense of Nuendo is not worth it. Try the demos to see for yourself. Nuendo has surround sound mixing while cubase has better midi functionality i think. Apparently N has slightly better FX but then u can get VST FX for cubase. Cubase is far more easy on the eye to me.

The last poster was totally making up his answer as he went along. He' obviously had little to no experience with either program. Check this out:

Basically, they're built from the same codebase. The differences are in the feature set. Nuendo includes some post-production capability that would be of little interest to the average music recordist. If you're doing post for film or television, take a look at Nuendo. If you're a musician recording music, CuBase is your program.

old cubase for macs

I am a music teacher and I have recently acquired old macs eg 6200. I want to run a basic version of cubase ie non audio version 3.03 or earlier but Steinberg don't support earlier versions. I already have two versions of Cubase VST 4 for Mac but I want a cheap way of setting up basic workstations in my classroom. Does anyone have any suggestions or do I have to trash these old computers.
ps If this is the type of support that Software companies give its hardly surprising that there is so much pirated software.

still no audio in cubase

I've got Cubase for a mac but cant get any audio out, yet the audio card ( audiowerk 2 ) works fine with other programs.When i try to launch the card in cubase nothing happens, and it sometimes says there is no audio card there. Please can someone help me because it is really staring to p*** me off

What about 'set up MME' in your Cubase folder, have you set this up?

Yes but you should only use MME drivers if you cannot use ASIO drivers with your card as ASIO offer much reduced latency/timelag. If using ASIO you should set MME inactive.
