HELP! Can't select my burner in Nero 5.5.4!!

When trying to use Nero ver 5.5.4, the "choose recorder" option recognises my burner, but will not allow me to select it, so I have to select "image recorder" which means many of the burning options aren't available to me. I downloaded Nero from this web-page - Any ideas?

you will need a program called aspichk.exe, if it comes up red then you need to update the layers.

Armend,

That is not a CD burner, it is a 2x mitsumi (panasonic) cd rom. They are old, they came bundled with an ISA Sound Blaster 16 among other releases. I would follow stevle's advice and go pummel your "friend".

Your cdrom is not a cd burner. It is an old Panasonic cdrom drive ref:1994 I have an old Packard Bell system here that I am working on and it has the exact same model cdrom drive that your talking about. Probably a 2x or 4x cdrom drive.

you need software to burn stuff, which your friend should have.

there are many programs that you can use, like ezcd creator, nero, winoncd, nti backup.

if you go to www.roxio.com you will find some there. I suggest though that you go and beat up your friend until they give you the software that came with the burner.

It sucks anyway - just use Nero's Media Player to record "line out" & have it all connected to stereo and it works perfectly.

From reading the blurb about this software, all it appears to do that other software doesn't is split a single WAV track up into separate tracks based on the silence in between.

If you don't want to shell out for this, get a copy of Cool Edit 96 and do it manually.

I must be a fool, 2 mnths i have had this imac with a burner and for the life of me I cant figure out how to download music with anarchie ? Then bring into itunes and burn? The cable modem takes longer than it sould because I cant shorten or use the trick? Please help me, tired of being in the same place.

continuous cd burn errors

I've made many coasters lately trying to burn cd's.I have tried several burn programs and none have helped.the usual error message reads POWER CALIBRATION AREA ERROR. Some tech support people have said my burner is in need of repair. REALLY!!! I'm wondering if i can repair the problem or is it easier to just put in a new cd burner.????

I would say that all the components in a PC are unrepairable by anyone outside a PC repair shop, and 99% of the time it's cheaper to replace the part than attempt to repair it.

If you can find a friendly PC shop, you could get them to look at it, but you'll probably end up having to buy a new one.

Actually the problem is most likely the cd you are burning to. Are you burning a cd-rw or a cd-r? Try both and also try different brands. After all that then maybe you need a repair, but unlikely

Nah... Probably your CDRW-drive is a Philips (inside the metal case with a nice company logo.)
for example Philips CDD-36xx, HP7200 etc... more than 40 "different" models exist...

These drives are known for atracting dirt and dust to the laser head. Also grease is know to loose functionality while attracting the dirt and being heated every time a CD is burned.

I've tried everything, but I can't get the same sound out of my keyboard as out of my sequencer (cubase VST). The channels match, the problem is (in my very simple opinion) that I can't get my local 'on'... This keyboard has so much phat sounds and filters, but I can't use them because most of the sounds come out wrong and the filters don't even have effect...

I have one. But it's not for sale - I love the old SPG too much (not that I really need the manual - that program works as an extension of myself) - within reasonable limits I can answer you questions should you have any.

I allways thought that make music was so expensive... buying machines, sound systems... but last week I discovered some of the posibilities of Reason Soft.. Then I decided to buy a new computer (because this one is old), to start making music. Bands like Solvent, Lackluster, Isolee or Mike Paradinas's music... are my references.
There is no question in this message but any comment will be helpful. Tnings I need to know, to buy, to forget.

Akai S900 disk drive drama...

I love those old Akai S900 samplers, I have 2. 1 is broken (I think it's the disk drive).

So....

1) Where can I get a replacement drive/ what can I use?
2) Is it an easy repair job?
3) Should I send it away for fixing? (If so, where to?)

browse computer aided music dir here at smm - there are accompaniament progs like band-in-a-box etc.

but most of them are midi and punk/metal won't sound too good :) on them ... but for training it's enuff ...

for such genres i suggest getting something sample based - even somethin from this "dance/acid/junk" stuff like for example fruity loops or some tracker ...
and make some samples useful for u - guitar chords and drums ...
but it'l never be as good as playin with other ppl

I am new to digital / computer recording and I would appreciate if someone could give me some advise? I want to produce hip hop music with my computer, I would like to use samples from other recordings create my own basslines and drum beats with a digital drum machine.

I have a 300 pentium with 128 megs of memory and a 4 gig harddrive and I plan on buying a Soundblaster Live soundcard.

Can someone please give me detail information about what other software and hardware I will need (sampler, sequencer, midi keyboard, and so on.) I should add that I have a budget of $1000.00.

I would rethink my purchase of the soundblaster soundcard. Check out Midiman/MAudio. Soundblaster is for gameing.
