Kereoke VCD files on PC hard drive

I hope you can shed some light on what I am about to do.

Our group of friends do a lot of kareoke using VCD disks on VCD players with key controls on the players (pitch). Each of us have numerous number of VCD disks. I myself has more than 100 VCDs.

I am investigating the way to store all these VCD songs (dat file format) onto large Hard Disk drive in a PC and run a software player with key controls to accomplish kareoke

There are a few hurdles to overcome for eg. the need for a good sound card with low level output to my Yamaha Surround Sound Receiver, TV card to my TV etc. The most important of all, software player with key controls (pitch) of at least 6- and 6 + and the ability of selecting Left Channel, Right Channel or Stereo in order to cut vocal during kareoke.

Do you know of a few good software players that will do what I require?

Cheers.

Tet Lai.

Problem with Burning CD's

I have a Plextor 16\10\40 burner. I am copying Lp's to my hard drive, which I then burn to cd. After I copy the songs to my hard drive and listen to them, they play fine. After I burn them to the cd, they ply fine in that PC's burner and CD-Rom drive, If I play it in another burner or any other cd player(home,Pc or car)all the songs are dragging or playing at a speed slower than what they were recorded. I'm totally lost on this one...Thanx in advnace for help any one can offer.....

Re: create music

my personal favourite is Buzz, it's more complete imo than these others, which are more "prepackaged" for just throwing a few loops together. and it's free, and is vst-compatable and infinitly expandable.

what?!?

since when has Rebirth been freeware?!? :-)

i need a wave to midi converter!!!

ive been wondering if i could convert wave files to midi signals without using any external hardwares!!..just my pc!! can u help me?... can i get it for free??

Re: i need a wave to midi converter!!!

If you're dealing with one sound like a flute, then it can be done. If you're trying to convert an ensemble into MIDI, forget it. It's still way too complex to render. The WAV-MIDI software can sometimes be hit and miss. You should find them here. Or try WAV2MID or WaveGoodbye.

WHERE DO I GET MY MUSIC FROM THAT I WANT TO RECORD?

Re: record

A music store! Seriously, though, there are heaps of places online to get great free (and legal) music. A lot of contemporary popular artists or their labels give away MP3s via their site. Let's face it, an MP3 is cool but not as cool or as high quality as the CD stereo copy. MP3.com is a big site with a lot of popular artists on it. EMusic is pretty cool as well, altho' it's a subscriber site for the most part. It really depends what music you're after. Techno/Electronica artists don't seem to be as reluctant as mainstream acts (no doubt due to their labels) to put their music online. Hope this helps.

Problems with Line In

Hi, I have recently purchased DJX-II keyboard and it is wonderful. I am trying to plug it in to my computer to record the songs. I have Yamaha DS-XG soundcard version 5.12.01.2228 that came with my computer. The soundcard plays internal sounds and has Line Out, Line In, and Mic. To record the sounds, I am using different programs like GoldWave, Total Recorder, and LAPS Audio. These programs fail to initialize the Line In input or they give me a message about external device not found. Can you tell me how I can test the input for my soundcard. I have recently downloaded and instaled the latest WDM drivers and DirectX 8. I am running Win 98 with Pentium 3 500 Mhz and 192 MB ram. To input the sound, I am using a three-jack wire :I plug in left/right RCA jacks into DJX-II and the single RCA connection to the soundcard. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to test the input? Please help.

Open volumn control and make sure that RECORD is set to line in. In options check save settings on exit or now.

Re: Problems with Line In

A simpler way would be to connect any audio device (i.e. CD player,
tape deck or something) via the headphone socket to the LINE IN and
see if you can record anything. This way you know for certain that
something is reaching the soundcard.

convert liquid audio files to mp3

I recently downloaded some of my cd's on to my computer using a program called PLEXTOR LIQUID AUDIO, which is a program that accompanied my new CD-RW-drive. It creates files called Liquid Audio with the file extension of .lqt I decided I don't like the program as there are many others I have that are much easier to use. The problem is, I can't seem to convert the files to MP3. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this on a PC ??? If not , I guess I will have to DOWNLOAD ALL MY CD'S AGAIN using a program with mp3
Any suggestions?
thanks
s.Enniss

Re: convert liquid audio files to mp3

I don't believe there are any Liquid-MP3 converters around. I think you may have to get the CDs out again and start over. I use MusicMatch for my encoding. It's not the best program but it does what I require.

Re: convert liquid audio files to mp3

you can't. liquid audio has a protection scheme, which you would need to crack to convert it to an mp3

Need Help With Power Tracks

Hi. My midi drivers input are empty in Power Tracks Pro Version 7. I can not record vocals or any instruments. I had Gateway co-pilot check, they said everything seemed fine, but to buy a "sound card with midi port" I thought windows me came with that.

Fruity Skins

Am I on my own in finding the included Fruity Loops skins less than wonderful? There must be some good looking, easy to use skins out there. Please point me inthe right direction.
How hard is it to make your own? Thankx for any help.

Re: Fruity Skins

You're more likely to find them on the various FruityLoops users groups. Start with a Google.com search.

CD player noise

When my Rotel 855 is turned on, there are three consecutive scraping noises concurrent with the flashing 'no signal' on the disply. It also occurs when the tray is closed from open with no disc. When there is a disc in the tray, there is no noise. It appears not to affect the performance otherwise. Any ideas?

Re: CD player noise

This is probably the pick-up moving to where it could read
the index track of the CD if one was in the tray. As long as
the player works properly otherwise, I wouldn't bother about
it. If it's any consolation, my CD-61 KI-S does the same thing.

cd to vynal

I have a single on cd and i was wondering if it was possible to tranfer it on to vynal

Re: cd to vynal

Man, I hope you're loaded. I don't think there's an affordable consumer vinyl burner on the market. You might be able to get a small pressing done, but I assume you wouldn't be able to get just one copy burnt without burning a hole in your wallet. Look in your phone directory and call around.

Audio Set up

I can't seem to get my Cubase VST32 program to register sound in real time. It's registers behind. Any ideas?

Re: Audio Set up

Dunno. More RAM might help. Sounds to me like you're not getting enough sound to buffer.
