Yeah, right, where's me Porsche then?

You might make some money but you probably won't! This is not the path to riches, altho' for some enterprizing people it might be a small stepping stone to making some beer money.

vinyl to cd

Hi folks, I know this subject has probably been beaten out in the past,

however I've healthy collection of albums I want to convert to CD.

Any ideas of the best sound restoration softwarwe (especially pops), without having to spend a fortune. I have easy cd creator installed for the burning.

Also, which art package would you recommend to scan the covers, I'm guessing I'll have to do a scan of the 4 corners and merge these together, then scale down and print.

Thanks
Dave

Recording Albums to a PC

What type of equipment do I need to transfer my albums to a PC? How do I connect a turntable to a PC? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

for sound card you need 1/8 audio adapter that
supports 2 phone plugs(mine is from radio shack pt # 274-883) & audio cables. also check out this site :http://a.reny.free.fr/iexplorer/restauration.html . This is the site I started with

Re: Recording Albums to a PC

Just a final point. Unless your turntable has a built-in RIAA
pre-amp, then you can't connect it directly to your soundcard.
If you do, the tonal balance will be wrong.

Best way is to feed the turntable into an amplifier and use the
TAPE OUT to connect to the PC.

Re: Recording Albums to a PC

just take the line out/headphone jack to your line in (or mic in if no line in but watch those levels) of your soundcard then hit record in an audio editor or sequencer. There are a few freeware ones around good sequencers which are free come from Quartz Audio + Protools these will enable u to EQ the recording + maybe apply some noise elimination (cleaning).

Don't forget the audio restoration tools!

Good advice, mate. But, unless some of us still want the vinyl clicks, I recommend a surf <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/AUDIO_RESTORATION/">here</a> to help you get rid of the pops, hiss and clicks.

mp3 to ram convertor

Hi ALL,

Any one have any idea about the convertor of MP3 to Real Player.
Please let me know.

Re: mp3 to ram convertor

Firstly get an MP3-WAV converter and convert the MP3 to WAV. Then get <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/RealProducer/">RealProducer</a> to convert to RM. Plus <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9904_106/">this tutorial</a> will help.

cda format

how can i play *.cda format files?

Re: cda format

CDA files should work with all players (Windows Media
Player, WinAmp etc).

All a CDA file is is a WAV file with text attached which
can be read by suitable CD players.

Curious to know if there's a way to copy separate .cda files from different CDs to HD, to enable a compilation CD to be made (to play my choice from already purchased CDs) ?

Using Win 98, and used to see the CDA files as something large, and could copy them, but now show as just 44 bytes (not into many Mb as I thought they should be)...

I know Easy CD Creator will copy tracks, but won't burning several from different CDs onto a CD-R make it unplayable on domestic/car CD player ?

yamaha NS-10's VS NS-10M's

What is the difference (if any) between the NS-10's and the NS-10M's?

Re: yamaha NS-10's VS NS-10M's

Well one has an 'M' added to it's name? OK maybe u loking for more than that. They are suppposed to be flat response/industry standard and all that but quite interestingly a respected magazine (What HiFi) lists them as being less than perfect. Indeed I'd suspect that they are rather long in the tooth and that better sounding speakers are out there. Just because they are standard studio hardware (?) doesn't make them the best option?

How good is the Audiosport Quattro?

I was thinking about getting one but havent seen user reviews out there so i'm still kinda hesitating. If any of you have one or heard of its quality (latency, stability, sound quality, etc...) please post a message. Thanks!

MusicTime File Converter?

I want to upgrade my MusicTime Deluxe 3.0 to the just-released 3.5. (Because 3.0 is incompatible with my new Windows 2000 OS). The problem is that GVOX made it so that the score files are not backwards compatible - so if I upgrade, the files I make will not be readable on other people's 3.0 versions. There is no option to save in the old format either.

This makes the new version unuseable for me because I share a lot of score files with other musicians and many of them won't upgrade soon, nor perhaps ever. Unless...somebody were to create a converter which will take my 3.5 file and create a 3.0-compatible file. this may involve some minor loss of format information (analogous to the same issue with word-processor files for example) but I cna't see that being a big issue.

So, the question is - has anyone heard of a format-conversion utility for MusicTime. OR does anyone know where I might find these formats documented so i could write my own converter?

Thanks for any help!

EMU ESI 32 and Mac CD ROM?

does software exist that will make the CD ROM in my G3 power book compatible with an esi 32 sampler so that i can load sample CD's via SCSI?

b.

SMDI....

SMDI is a sampler tranfer protocol and it should work with the powerbooks as it works fine with my G4 using Peak (for the SMDI tranfer) and a Yamaha Ex5R with SCSI...

There are other audio editors that offer SMDI sampler transfer too although I can't give you any names as I am used to using Peak...!

Nero Burning Room question

How do you take one big MP3 file and divide it up? (I've downloaded entire albums & was wondering how to split that big file into different tracks).

Re: Nero Burning Room question

What version of Nero do you have? Nero 5.5 lets you split tracks. Update to the latest version and read your manual. Alternatively, check out <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/wwwboard/messages/91356.html">this answer</a>.

Best software for a guitarist?

Hi,
I'm a regular iMac user for graphic tasks and a guitarist who use an analog 4 track recorder. I'm a total newbie as far as digital multitracking goes. What software should I use on my mac for the same purpose? Is there a piece of software that allows me to enter notes manually and record tracks straight from my electric guitar as well? Hope the question is clear enough, thanks.

Why won't can't my Window's Media Player stream WMA files proper

Every time I try to play a WMA file off the internet it just says its buffering...buffering...buffering...and it never stops. They used to work fine, but now they don't. I'd appreciate any advice you can give me.

Re: Why won't can't my Window's Media Player stream WMA files pr

Could be any reason - bad connection, high bandwidth file, your PC... the list is endless. Have you got the latest version of the player? That might help.

i need help finding....

hello... i need help finding somesort of program that can take out curse words out of song. Some kind of editor or soemthing that "netches" the word or i can manually press a button when i know theres a curse word. Thanks

Re: i need help finding....

There's no $#^##^ing software that does the %$^^$#^ing job. Not as far as a simple click and delete operation anyway. You might have luck using an <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/AUDIO_EDITORS/">audio editor</a>. But it'll end up being a lot of work.

MIDI Loopback with Windows XP

I cannot seem to get *any* MIDI loopback device to work properly under Windows XP.

HUBIs Loopback does not install at all - I have managed to get Yoke (NT version) installed though.

The ports show up correctly but it doesn't seem to be passing the MIDI messages through properly. I assign a Cubase output to the 'Yoke NT 1' port, but when I use another program to pick up the signal nothing seems to come through to it. I have used MIDI-OX to check for incoming MIDI signals from the Yoke port to no avail, but it picks up signals from my external hardware sequencer (RM1X) fine.

I don't really wanna go back to Win98 (again!), so am wondering if anybody else has had any luck???

Thanks in advance for any help,

Rob

music

Hi there, can you help?

I'm after some music software for my mac.

I've got a beige with system 8.6 and plenty of power and disk space.

I'm looking for some software (around £50 mark if possible) which allows me
to create music in the following ways:

Time line with bars on on which you add drums, melody, bassline, synth etc.

Not an mp3/wav slicer/splicer.

I want to be able to create music from scratch by dropping instrumental
loops onto a timeline.

Alot of the packages I've seen just allow you to cut and paste snippets of
(pre-saved) other songs or sounds together on the cd.

Is AudioFusion any good? Are there any others. I keep looking on the web but
can't find what i want.

Can you help?
